1. It seems likely - it's also what the most reliable members of the band - Adam and Larry - had said. They're not Bono, eh?

So 4 months later it was released in march 2009
So my guess is September early October for album and hopefully single in July Aug.

So first single in the summer, full album in the fall. Freaking nailed it. But I won't protest if they release things ahead of my predictions.

For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”

How great would a surprise announcement like that be from U2?!

Not only does a new NIN album excite me, a U2 album excites me even more. I thought what a great idea this is - no prior promotion or hype, just get it out there and let the music do the talking.

Regardless, can't wait to hear something new!!! If that Danger Mouse video posted a page or so back is an indication of what the 'sound' of a forthcoming record is...that's the kind of sound that I'm interested in. It's not quite rock and roll, it's not quite pop - it's just bloody good music.
  4. Havnt been on for a couple of days due to uni, come on now and see that everything seems to be moving full steam ahead. Great news about the album, cannot wait

That feeling of excited for new U2, nothing beats it.

    Plenty of things beat it.

Pussy is one example that comes to mind.
  6. Return of the Stingray Guitar better be on the new album.
  7. was that a Rick Rubin track? maybe it will be reborn in some way.

This bit was interesting to read though:

Lanois says he was familiar with a couple of the new U2 tracks, as he had worked on them himself previously. "They're back on the burner."

Wonder what songs he could be talking about here, and if any of them were the ones we heard during the 360 tour.
  8. Good point. Perhaps EBW. But I also hope many brand new songs.

  9. Oh I hope not. If they release it, do it on one of their side-projects. Don't waste space on the new album for songs we've already heard.
  10. See that's the thing. We've heard it. But 99% of U2 fans probably haven't.
