1. OK, I live on the moon, so I just bumped into this only now (Danger Mouse on drums, the band is one of his ongoing projects):

Just out of curiosity: what's the general consensus?
  2. The High Road is their best song. Their album Broken Bells is great, chilled out indie rock. Thoroughly enjoyable.
  3. To me, any hype from people close to the band (Blackwell, Lanois) who aren't involved with the project in anyway, or have stakes in the record, like the band, Danger Mouse and McGuinness, tells me that there actually must be a sliver of truth in what's come out lately. If they have nothing riding on the project, which is true for both Lanois and Blackwell, why the hell would they come out and say that it's a great album out of the blue. If they didn't like it or think it was going to be what it is, I'm sure they wouldn't mention it.

Put it this way - I can't remember anyone who wasn't closely involved with the NLOTH stuff coming out and saying it was terrific and a masterpiece etc - I can only remember it being the band, producers and Pauly McG.

That's exactly why I gave Lanois' words that bit of extra importance.
  5. Yeah.

Starting to get a wee little excited now.

    Thanks!
  7. Regardless if your a fan or not of Nine Inch Nails, this was posted out of the blue on their website:

From TR: “I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly fucking great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!”

How great would a surprise announcement like that be from U2?!
  8. After reading that Lanois news....I'm starting to get pumped. Still apprehensive about the "exploration" business, but still really excited too.
  9. Brad Wheeler @BWheelerglobe

Lanois says he was familiar with a couple of the new U2 tracks, as he had worked on them himself previously. "They're back on the burner."

Lanois tells me Bono is singing strongly and beautifully on the new U2 stuff. "He makes me jealous. Those barrel-chested Irish tenors."
