    They even said that promotion this time around would be a little different. And us thinking that they'd pull out a Beyonce, DB, or NG. But, as somebody rightly pointed out at some point, they'll need to be present present present if they want to sell.

    A new partnership with Apple, with new iPhone, surprise gig etc. seems much more in line with U2's stature...

  3. I'd be surprised. It would be nice if the band would just release their music as musicians do and let it sell on it's own merit. Seeing them cosy up to multi-billion dollar corporations isn't the best image for me.

    We'll see though. I'd be pissed if my new phone came preloaded with music from a band I don't care about. It won't sell more iphones and it won't sell more albums.

  6. Its good news, but this kind of news makes me afraid that it (once again) will be a pop sounding album.


    I just reaaaaaaallllyyyyyyy hope they don't go down the Coldplay way and make a song with a DJ or something like that.
  7. Bloody apple and iPhones/pods. I have an idea, make it black with a red trim, have the bands autographs on the back....It's all so 10 years ago, nothing new. I just want an album with at least 80% of the songs to be amazing and the others to be good and see them on tour a few times next year. I have an iphone, my contract has a year left so won't be interested in a new one.

    I won't get excited until I see/hear something official. Thanks

    Yea, doesn't sound Apple-ish. I do see them going the U2 iPod way though, either releasing a special edition or giving some sort of a code for early access to the album, similar to the discount they had for The Complete U2.

    It was a different market back then. The U2 iPod worked. I just don't think anything similar would gain traction today. We've been waiting 4 years so another week to find out isn't going to hurt.

So let me think......how would that work? .... my friend, who is an Apple-fan, buys a new phone next week and I can have U2's new album for free because he lets me make a copy of the music? wouldn't that just be giving away the music for free? It wouldn't take more then a day before al the songs are for free on youtube anyway?
    Isn't that ridiculous, commercially speaking?

    (edit... maybe I'm naive and this is a silly question I have? )
