  2. Wow, you guys have some great things. "Walking Away" was my favorite track. Best of luck with everything that you do!
  3. I just wrote this a little while ago

    Life Sized Action Man

Blizzard, warning, light crashing down on fighters
Attack, battle, determining all of our fate
I feel, madness, it brings me to the new frame
More, then empty, it’s taking from the last one

    Car crash, day dream

Pill, taker, see what you could not before
Raging, madmen, go higher than the good ones
Runners, thrillers, make it worth the watcher’s while
Lowest, darkest, unwelcome in the new world

    Car crash, day dream

Life sized action man, make it better, never whether
Life sized action man, take it higher, always inspire
Life sized action man, make it better, time for calling

Show, me, what I could do after
Play, me, make me feel so good
Dream, dreamer, don’t put me where I belong
Strange, stranger, please don’t take this the wrong way

New, world, always better then the last one
Soul, lingers, above the heads of all new comers
Blue, light flash, so real, and so brilliant
Wonder, flowing, let lose to keep change changing

    Car crash, day dream

Life sized action man, make it better, never whether
Life sized action man, take it higher, always inspire
Life sized action man, make it better, time for calling
  4. Chorus I wrote last night, actually while I was driving home from somewhere. The power was out in our neighborhood, and as I entered the subdivision, the streets were just pitch black from having no streetlights and no houses with lights on...I was somewhat inspired to get this out

    Cause Gary's in Decorah
And Terry left for New York
But with you gone, there's just too much to fear
I never thought I'd be the one
    To write the song admitting
Everybody's turned and left me here

sort of emo.. I just really like the city name "Decorah", and a close friend of mine named Gary moved there and I thought it would be interesting to use in a song. Also have a friend named Terry who's staying in New York for some time. This song would sort of resemble "Nobody Home" by Pink Floyd, if anyone knows it...sort of a droning synth-orchestra with some piano.

I've got peppier stuff coming too, don't worry

It's intriguing, Nick, but I'm not sure I understand it- what's the "car crash, day dream" bit mean?

Thanks! Unfortunately, we have some "Oasis" issues right now, but we are trying to work through it.

The bit sounds like the person had just realized their vulnerability and loneliness, as if they are coming out of a coma or something. It kind of reminds me of the Twilight Zone in a way lol. It's a nice piece, I can't wait to see the rest!

Too many peppy things can make people sick, so don't worry about the "emo"

It's sort of hinting that all of the unfortunate happenings of the first part of the song may not actually be happening to world, or a country or people, but to a single person.

I'm actually not a big fan of this piece, I will probably do a total re-write by the end of the weekend lol... I do like the "Car crash" part and the chorus however. The chorus reminds me of some 80's arena rock tune, but is sung over a classical piano. I have some little guitar (not "licks," but sort of like them) licks worked out for the choruses and the second part of the song.
  8. This is something that I finished a little while ago.

I haven't decided on the title yet, but the one that I have right now for it is "Imminent Departure"

Metal drips through the cracks, dreams are under attack
Silhouettes of crooked jokers, laughing at the unsightly
Concrete walls crumble, the undesirable mumble
Lights flicker and steam rises, welcoming the dreaded

Dangerous impulsions, surround you but its fine
Strange faces surrounded, lost but never gone
Balance is rejected, cognition is unclear
Orders are un-given, law is un-slated
    In here

Le risque est nécessaire, pour l'amour pour régner (Risk is necessary, for love to reign)

Your heart is full of, the right projections
    Surrounded by the worst, congregations
You’re tamed by, what your think will break you
But tame is what you, need to break through

Le risque est nécessaire, pour l'amour pour régner

    Still surrounded, still so miniscule
Always brought down, you’re mind’s transgressions

I’m trapped in the train station
Trapped in the train station, tonight

Le risque est nécessaire, pour l'amour pour régner
  9. Nick, I love the new lyrics- make me question the meaning as always, like a great songwriter will do...keep you guessing new ideas that the song could be about, having it be able to relate to many different things...it's so mysterious, I love your style!

I stole your word, though "Imminent" is also used in my new song, though not anywhere in the title...this new song...is sort of a crazy idea.

It's called "Close Encounters (One More Time)", and if I ever recorded enough songs to be on an album, this would open it...I'm going to tackle recording this one soon. It'll take a lot of work.

It combines a story of sorts (with a personal twinge to it) with some samples of quotes from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", the Speilberg film from 1977. I was writing the song while the movie was on, and as I was writing certain lines, Richard Dreyfuss would yell something on camera that literally fit the line, and I sort of adapted it to that. It's going to be hard to pull off, but I think it could end up sounding really cool. It's a vision...and hopefully it'll be realized and you can hear how cool this sounds in my head!

    Close Encounters (One More Time)"
    [intro]
    "this means something.
    this is important."

    [verse]
    detour
its the end of the road
    humbly sure
ill make the u-turn on my own
    -
    and the sweet, sweet taste
of dust comes like a drug
    it gets me high
    floods me with memories
of when i wasn't so stoned

    önceden biçimlendirilmiş:

dont think too much about it... (x3)
you and me could work out.

    [chorus]
    one more time,
slip into dreams of what we used to do
    not a minute i pretended
i was left here without you
    -
don't let me let you go
    i know im trying
    i know you're crying
    but i'd be lying
    if i said i didn't love you

[interlude/quote, set to verse lead-in music]
"you ever look at something one way
and its crazy, and then you look at it
    another way and its not?"

    [verse]
    look here
i've been trying to catch your eyes
    used to live there
and it was in them that i died
    -
its imminent; its eminent, admit it now,
    its right
i know it hurts to know
    you're wrong,
that you should be with me tonight

    önceden biçimlendirilmiş:

dont think too much about it...(x3)
you and me could work out

    [chorus]

    [bridge]
ive had too many close encounters
    with your imposters
to believe ill ever be found
    take me in
get me drunk on you again
    at the very least
    come back around

    [stripped chorus]

    [alt. chorus]
(you and me could work out)
    one more time,
make those dreams of us come true
i cant break the same heart twice
its all ive got left to prove
    -
    don't let me go
    never tried hard enough
    or cried enough
    i lied enough
when i told you i made it through
i was lying when i said i didn't love you

"i haven't felt this good in years!"

[previous quote continues to be sample at specific times over this last pre-chorus repetition, which will fade out]

dont think too much about it
you and me is workin' out
dont think too much about it,
much about it, much about it
don't think too much about it
you and me is workin' out
    (fade)
  10. Also, a sneak peek at a song I told everyone I'd be writing awhile ago after a CRAZY dream I had...called NoiseSleeper

    Sleep through the noise
    Don't let it wake you
    Allow it to take you
    Make yourself sound
    -
    Noise sleeper
Don't infiltrate the peace around you
Desecrate the life that sounds like
Everything you've ever known to be true....
    Let the static rearrange you

    Thanks Matt!

Matt, being honest, that is by far my favorite lyrical composition of your's. It's beautiful and I can already sort of imagine the music around it. It's beautiful in a dark, almost comic way, yet is also... huge. It just sounds really big, and significant to someone's weekend. I love the use of technology too; the quotes, etc. I'm planning to do something very similar to that once we start to record "Universe Surrounded By White Walls."

If you can record a preliminary mix with your band or something, or just guitar and vocal yourself, I'll be glad to try to record some "background" with my really extraterrestrial keyboard sounds for those "quote" parts. If you're interested.

I recently purchased a Line 6 computer based guitar tone / effect lab thing . However, it also came with two recording soft-wares, Riffworks and (one other one, which sucked and I forgot the name of)
