1. Also, good to see Petrov on the podium. Although, I would've liked Alonso on the podium instead, it was still nice to see him there. Fairly disappointing with Heidfeld's result, I thought he would do much better than that. I'm also not sure about Heidfeld getting that race seat. I would have preferred Senna getting it as I believe he has something to prove (he couldn't last year because he was in an HRT car), but he's not just not getting that chance.

But my god, I love that Renault

Out of interest, what did you think of the Brundle/Coulthard combo in the commentry box?

I know, I was constantly checking Autosport throughout the morning to see a headline "Hamilton disqualified from the Australian Grand Prix" but no. Like you said, yeah, it's certainly not an advantage, but it's pretty much against the rules. It was said that it happened in 1994 and 1995 (one time to Schumacher). He was trying to fix it after he got out the car, so he might have actually improved it. That's something that is not allowed.

I don't think Brundle/Coulthard worked. Martin Brundle is much better as the 'co-commentator' making the ever-so-often comment and information. Coulthard was good as a 2nd commentator, but I'd much prefer Brundle doing that role. I miss the days of Murray Walker doing the commentary, he was brilliant.

And did you wake up at 7am to watch the race?

I found it better than Legard, Brundle is a more spontaneous commentator; Legard waits and thinks about what he is going to say, then gets it wrong anyway. I actually liked James Allen for ITV a few years back, he said some stupid stuff but at least he managed to build excitement.

got up at 6am to watch the build-up, though i had prepared myself on Friday and Saturday by watching Practice 2 and Qualifying, i went to see Glasvegas last night so i had a nap for a few hours after the race.

Yeah, I preferred Legard but not James Allen. I hated James Allen because he was utterly stupid and talked complete shit. I remember when Button won his first grand prix at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. He went CRAZY when Button crossed the finish line.

I got up at 6am, because I thought that was when it started, but it turned out it was 7am it started, so I went back to bed for another hour. Ha, Glasvegas,

even worse thats its the Sunday the clocks went forward, lucky that it was an evening race for the Australians.

    Classic James Allen

"I said he should have pitted, I TOLD YA!!!!"

Re Glasvegas: not bad at their own gig, plus they have a new drummer, but thats probably a conversation for another thread

I know, that was a right bummer that the clocks went forward.

I remember watching that race live. I was so pissed off. Last lap, tyre, BOOM! That was at a point where I never really liked Fernando Alonso, now he's one of my favourite drivers.
But about James Allen, he doesn't half talk on that video. I especially love it when he goes "Should he pit? Is it unsafe?" and there is a 3 second pause, Martin Brundle says "Na, you just need to keep going".

I also like the way he turned out to suddenly be a massive liverpool fan. But i can't really imagine what Legard would say in that situation, but i guess it would be like:
Legard "oh look a cars come off there! Is it Christijan Albers? no?"
    Brundle "its Räikkönen"
Legard "its Räikkönen!! Now where's Button?"

Shouldn't be too harsh though, His more of a radio guy

Jonathan Legard was usually all over the place. He would talk about 3 different topics at once usually. And yeah, I do agree about him being more of a radio guy. He was commentating F1 on BBC 5Live before he moved to BBC TV F1 commentary. Damn, give us Murray Walker back!
  9. Remember to get your picks in on the prediction league guys
  10. What a beautiful pic:

  11. I'm really regretting not putting Kobayashi in my top 10, if I did, I would've been level with Hans. Good that I put Webber for fastest lap (which he got). Well done Hans for taking the lead!

China next week. Another early wake up call
