    I know what you mean but I dont think Glastonbury should be put on any album, its too specific and should be saved for Glosto 2011 for me.

    Stingray would be a good opener for an album though

    Well the music press are much more reliable than the band or U2.com, if you read the RS & Q previews of NLOTH and compared them to the released album they are completely accurate.

    And there are numerous reports of Every Breaking Wave been left out of the album at the last minute to make the running length more acceptable, much to the disappointment of Eno.

    Then there is stuff like this which shows EBW among the other songs that made NLOTH (no other works in progress) are mentioned.

    So clearly it was left off from the album for Songs of Ascent, and isn't acousting and a work in progress (it'd be as much of a work in progress as something like Mercy is)
  3. Anything they haven't released is definitely still a work in progress, and half of what they do release. So yet again you're talking rubbish.

    Sigh, this is what happens when people don't bother to read earlier posts and understand the context of my replies.
    If you define 'work in progress' as anything they haven't released then of course you'll be right (however I'm sure they have other finished tracks that they just keep in their vaults for whatever reason)

    But, I was actually referring to this U2.com statement:

    A beautiful acoustic number, evidently still a work in progress


    Now clearly, EBW is not U2.com's their definition of a work in progress as contrary to what that U2.com newspiece would have you believe it is not some acoustic, raw tune that Bono came up with in the dressing room.

    We had two magazine previews, as well as a lot of other references to the song - so it is far from a rough, unfinished state. There are numerous reports about how it was left out of NLOTH at the last minute (along with WInter), much to the chagrin of Eno.

    But you know it could be possible that they've started a new song from scratch and decided to title it identically to the track mentioned previously and reuse the lyrics as well!!!
  7. btw the Eno's board says "EVERY BREAKING WAVE (4:13)". so i guess it's not a 6 minute long atnhem as someone metioned before...
  8. Wasn't there EBW audio from one of the beach recordings a while back? I could swear one of the audio clips contained EBW. I even remember listening to it. It sounded a lot like it does now, but it definitely had that "anthem" thing going more in chorus from what I can remember. I could be mistaken though.

    Sadly, I've read all your twitterings posts and fully understand your idiocy context.
    You're still talking out of your arse and actually end up contradicting yourself in that post , which is quite amusing.

    They may well have laid down a mastered version of EBW as it was heard by Q Magazine and others.

    But they didn't release it and have obviously decided to re-visit it. Ergo, it is a work in progress. Given that arrangements of released tracks can still be drastically re-worked for live performance, they too are still works in progress.

    The Every Breaking Wave that the vast majority of the public have heard is a work in progress. End of.
