1. I'm grateful to all those tapers who allow their recordings to be shared in lossy format. I must admit that, whenever I download lossless recordings from U2torrents, Dime etc I need convert them to MP3 for my own use.
  2. Yeah and everyone has different mp3 copies, redundant, waste of energy. Plus there are some crap encoders out there. For most people its better to get it here.

I dont see what we are doing wrong, people who want FLAC can get it here or on U2Torrents. No sense in banning that out, they will just get the mp3s elsewhere.

And I might be biased, but U2start is the only site that has a good overview of shows and their bootleg sources. As Remy told we are open for improvement in that area. Documentation, credits etc.
  3. I don't see the problem with this site changing recordings to mp3 when that's what the majority of people who download them will convert them anyway.

That's my case. Btw, I usually delete all the lossless files.

  5. I dont because i seed them here and U2t.

But how can someone listen to the lossless u2 shows? They are named stupidly, no tags at all.
People dont want to listen to Track 12 of Unknown Artist on their iPod.

woah ... i've never seen such a stupid argument ... i'm speechless right now
  7. Its not an argument, its just why I convert to mp3. If i tag them, i need to copy the files if i like to share them on U2T or here. Twice storing a FLAC is overkill.

That is why i convert to mp3. Nothing more nothing less.

But i guess you can read in it whatever you want
  8. What is the actual issue here? Mp3 is going to exist, whether people 'convert to mp3 for personal use' and send it around their mates or whether they get it very handily from here with known sources, lineage and the opportunity to say thanks to the community.

Can't both co-exist? MP3 I agree is horrendous if folks go around re-encoding, blowing up to FLAC or whatever. Shouldn't we accept that mp3 is always going to be here?
  9. @Risto and Remy

What's so difficult to ask the Tapers if you can put thier recordings in mp3 on your site? I think most will say then "yes, you can" . I'm very unlucky that so many Tapers don't share their recordings, specially IEM's and SBD's I'm missing. If a Taper say no to mp3 you can post the lossles Files as an option. So, I see no problem then. People must convert the Flacs for their ipods etc (or whatever) then themself for private use. I see no problem. And it's not to difficult.
  10. No they wont. Why would they call us 'second class server' in the info file and then later say 'OK' ?

People who are ok with it dont have such 'wishes' in their info files.

Nobody downloads the lossless. Most didnt get downloads in 60 days, which is why they were deleted by RS. That is why we launched the torrent section.
