1. Actually i'm on the tapers side... i mean... i produce artwork for u2 fans...for bootlegs, DVDs and other stuff. ALL FOR FREE !!! in my FREE TIME... with a lot of effort...and also a lot of passion ! it's one of my hobbys !

AND...i can truely understand tapers if they ask for " PLEASE DO NOT CONVERT TO MP3...."

It's a wish...a claim... but often... and that's why i'm only downloading the stuff from u2torrents...some people flout those claims ! Today...in my case, a friendmate posted a link on facebook of a website which sells bootlegs...all kinds of bands...AC/DC until ZZTop ... and U2. So...what's so special ? YES...they SELL them ! And for me not the point to stop speaking...those b*stards sell these DVDs with my Cover Artwork !!!!!! regardless if claim for free trading between fans on my website...or even directly ON THE ARTWORK !!!

I have to ensure that the covers are not for commercial subjects, because i often use photos of people who enjoyed a specific concert...i ask them for the rights to use the picture on my cover... and SOME people...SOME are always to lazy to respect that one desire. It seems that they do not read... but they want to make their profit with it.

... YOU do not make profit, you just want to spread the U2 Shows around the internet, that many more fans can listen to the bootlegs in sometimes perfect quality... NO PROFIT ...but still there are claims by the tapers - and i don't know if it is ok to disregard those claims in case of "want to give more Fans the chance. ...."

A real fan know where to get a bootleg...a real fan has connection to people who know how to get a bootleg.... and actually .... in times of DSL, VDSL and Cable internet connections... NO ONE can tell me that torrents with about 600-800 MB are a problem !!! So why just converting ? why MP3 ? If you would download a torrents... after finishing it, you are allowed to do anything you want - except converting and sharing

    so...why ???

Why isn't there more respect ????

I'm done for now with this discussion, I keep repeating the same things over and over again.

All open for a PM as usual.

    Have a good night all

I think you have a double standard on things and ignoring that is not a solution. But there is no changing things clearly or arguing any points. People need to get a grip though and understand why a taper may hold stuff. That is what I don't like, the double standard on it. This thread shows why it happens. Like I said, its not worth losing sleep over, but at least understand the viewpoint and don't go off the deep end when something is not shared.

Ah, so you're not a real fan if you cannot download a torrent. I will send out a newsletter with that quote I think, and ask people to reply to you personally if they don't agree

I'm closing this thread for now, because the same things are said over and over again.

Things are not going to change now, but some of you made some very good comments which we absolutely will take into consideration. Let us internally talk this good over in the next few weeks, and who knows where it all leads to. If it doesn't lead to anything, then we can restart the discussion. We maybe even try to contact some of you to help us, sort of consultants

But as you stated a long time ago...things don't seem to change in Remy's way of running the site/MP3s. And thatz just plain sad coz now ppl who obey taper's wishes and never used this site will suffer from recordings being held back thanks to u2start.

I wished I had thee answer. My opinion fairly lies in the camp that says there's noting wrong with mp3 for 95% of those listening to U2 live recordings. We on these sites make up 95% of that other 5%. You then see the minority we place ourselves in. Taper requests and lossless serves that minority whilst ignoring the 95% majority.

We have 4500 downloads of the Turin mp3. 3 times more than the snatched amount on U2T. When I tape my first show my ego would be a lot bigger if I knew my work had reached 4500 people. Slightly lower quality is a trade off worth making if thousands more people pat you on the back.
