  2. Yep, this is the misunderstanding that I talked about. The so called "islamic" terrorists have it wrong too, just this verse tells you that if you even kill one person you are killing the whole humanity...why would you fly a plane into a building then?!

    There are a few campaigns going on in the middle east trying to teach less educated muslims that Islam is against violence. Campaigns like Say No To Terror:
    they have some ads based on poor arabic neighborhoods (where these people are usually located/recruited) which end up with showing a verse of the quran that is against terror. And then it says: Terror: I'm a muslim, I'm against it.

    ...calling these people "islamists" is of course wrong. "Islam" means submission to god. And that is obviously not what they're doing.

  8. People using religion to gain power is the issue with pretty much all religions. Religion is misused so often.

    I don't think religion is needed anymore. It might have been thousand of years ago when we were able to explain so little of the world with science.

  10. Yea. It's mostly Imams with outdated and wrong understandings of Islam that run these mosques, and they mess things up.

    I read the verses you posted and saw notihing that contradicts my statement. I even ran it by my dad - retired pastor/prison guard - and he saw nothing either. Basically those verses are talking about different kinds of death in different contexts....if physical death was punishment for sin, then death would be enough and there would be no need for hell after death. Hell is the punishment for sin, not a physical death.

    Anyway, I'll stop so we dont hijack the thread.....
