That's all folks.

The vast majority of gun owners are law abiding citizens.

    Possibly an impulse crime?
  3. If that were true: If you don't have a gun, impulse crimes like these are hard to commit

Anyway, it is democracy, if the USA wants stricter gun laws they will vote for that. Doesnt matter what we think
  4. The majority of guns used in illegal acts are acquired illegally.

And the amount of Americans for gun control is down.

"When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns".
  5. When guns are outlawed, perhaps there'll become less guns in circulation?

Do you have any stats on how often it really helps that "good citizens" have guns? I can't imagine it does that much good if they're not trained, like police.
  6. Anyone can get tactical firearms training.

Your opinion is based around the idea that criminals will follow the law.
  7. No I think he means that, they will be easily traced.

  8. No, it's not.

In Switzerland it works to have loads of guns. That's because they are trained on guns I think and are actually able to use them in the way they are in your ideal America. To lower crime because criminals know people have guns. Also those owning guns know what it is to have a gun in a different way.

If there are less guns in circulation, it's logical that less guns end up among criminals. Also the police can take their guns. Less guns in circulation=less guns to commit crimes with.

  9. I see your point Aaron, about this and about "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns"...

But what about a law abiding citizen with a legally purchased gun to defend him/herself that in a moment of anger, anxiety or desperation decides to use the gun on an innocent person? Or on a not so innocent person but as revenge and not in self defense?

If you make guns illegal, first of all, it will be tougher for the criminals to get guns too. Sure, they'll find a way to get it, but it's not as easy as before. Secondly, it will be just outlaws and law officers that have guns and not some normal person who might make an emotional decision leading to someone's death.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6,

And Chicago is all the proof you need that gun control does not work in America.

About the 12 and 6 thing...this makes sense as some individual's view, but if this were a whole society's opinion, nobody would survive.
And what I said was not about situations when you're defending yourself. The gun thing makes sense while it's correctly used in defense situations. I was talking about impulse attack situations that might happen to any law abiding citizen. Revenge is just one of those situations. You or a loved one might have been the victim of a crime, and instead of letting the "12" judge the criminal for you, you have an impulse to shoot the guy on sight.
People who are not properly trained emotionally - and this means all civilians - might not handle such situations properly.
