  1. I almost slipped on that floor going in!!! It's the last time I ever wear those low-type shoes again.

What made me laugh was the security specifically told us anyone who jumps up and grabs on to the bridge whether it's moving or not and whether anyone was on it gets kicked out - two knob jockeys who heard this very warning, they did exactly that. I mean - are you fucking dense? You get a great spot and you blew it. Dipsticks.

Highlights of the night: Moment Of Surrender, Hold Me Thrill Me, the band coming less than two meters away from us, City Of Blinding Lights, Streets (Bono went nuts at the end on it), the rain just coming straight on during the epic 11-hour line-up and Mercy - hearing that for the very first time live for myself. I thought when we got in I said we'll just go for it and go wherever. Hey look, there's an entrance!!! That'll do!!! No idea where it led to initially, but the others who I was lined up with must have seen me just gunning for there and came through as well after a couple of minutes. It wasn't all that crowded during Jay-Z - that was the best time to try my camera for the first time ever - but when Space Oddity came on, there was a huge cheer. That's when the inner area got crowded.

The highlight of Jay-Z's set was when the beginning of Dream On was being played. I thought, hey he's gonna do Dream On - you know the beginning ''Every time I look in the mirror all these lines...'', then it turned into something completely different. I still thought that was the best bit and I was singing Dream On with it!!!
  2. Ok, my experiences, hope i don't ramble on too much here.

The 1st of December, the plan was to get to Etihad Stadium at around 11am, drove all the way in from Mornington to South Melbourne where we have family and walked all the way, about a 30 min brisk walk , his partner and 3 other friends in our group, the plan, was to get front and centre just outside of the ring.

Around 1.30pm, myself & Aussie Bono decided to take a walk down to where the band gets driven in, in their individual black tinted window'ed cars, there were only 6 or 7 waiting which was a good sigh, and hopefully the band members to come out and maybe meet the great men, after two hours of waiting & a roadie soundcheck going by, got the call to head back to receive our wrist bands for entry onto the hallowed Etihad turf which was covered up with slippery flooring which i predicted people would end up arse over if they decided to run, after the downpour we got for a good hour or so, at times quite heavy.

Fortunately that rain stayed away for that entire time throughout the night, even though Thunderstorms had been predicted all week, we were blessed, maybe Bono who thinks he can save the world, had a hand in that.....i wouldn't surprise me, he is like a god to us all anyway, the whole band are.

The mad rush, got inside, walked at a fast pace and went to exactly where we wanted, one person behind the front [awesome], the plan had worked.

Jay Z was good, really enjoyed his set, not a big fan, actually not a fan at all, not that i don't like him, of you know what i mean, really had the crowd going in his bigger hits.

The the heavy weight's were next, after hours upon hours of waiting, months of anticipation, David Bowie starts up, I'm set for a ride, and hope i don't ever have to get off, the band come on, Stingray Guitar is a brilliant way to kick things off, even though i wished Breathe would have hung around.

I guess i was always going to know the set list, well at least most of it, the structure of the list, i knew which songs were coming up next on alot of occasions, i had heard earlier in the roadie soundcheck just one bar, one note from Mercy, i don;t know why but that really stood out at the time, i was hoping.......and YES, THEY PLAYED MERCY,,,,,yeah baby, loved it.

Bad was also a major highlight, not being a regular, Streets as always gets the place pumping and Moment Of Surrender is the perfect way to end the night, even though many, in fact most fans thought there was going to be more, everyone hung around....wasn't to be.

I was drained, the jumping around like an idiot, the fist pumping, the screaming like a 15 year old girl to seeing the Beatles appear from their balcony, i felt like i had done a marathon, from the walking earlier, the standing around, the jumping up & down during the show, they were burning with fire.

Aussie Joe got alot of stares and finger pointing....is that, no....oh maybe it is.....didn't help that i kept shouting out "HEY, IT'S BONO".

Night 2 was a far more casual affair, had the cheap seats that night, $39 [AU] compared to the $100 for GA 2 nights before, we were directly behind the stage, quite close up considering, so had a great view of where the band walk in.

Again, was always going to know the structure of the setlist, was an awesome moment when New Years Day got started, one of my all time faves, and got a run giving I Will Follow a spell from the previous concert.

Pride was also a highlight, and yes, i'm like most on here, the song doesn't seem to be the greatest of LIVE songs, but, having being there, and not being played in the first concert, i was generally rapt that they played it, was also good to get the dedication for Hutch, along with Stick In A Moment, again, had i been following on U2Start like i had been for a year and a half during each concert, i would have gone..BLAH, but, it was also another highlight. plus the fact that we got a few different songs.

The second night as planned out to record the show, had the mic set up hidden in the bag, bought a t-shirt as well, and used that as a microphone foam cover so the sound didn;t distort, after turning off the recording and having a listen, don't know what went wrong but it only recorded in one side, the other side was a jumbled mess of interference from the mic plug, it didn't really worked, but i gave it a shot, these things happen, but ended up with 8 or 9 video's of night 2, Stingray, New Years Day, Stuck In A Moment, City Of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, Get On Your Boots, Scarlett, Amazing Grace - that's when the camera died, right at the start of Streets....D'OH!

All in all, an amazing experience as always, but fortunately won't have to wait as long to see them next time around with tickets for both Denver & Salt Lake City next year....and naturally, cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My fuzzy photo of Joe [aka Aussie Bono] before the 2nd concert.

  3. hmmm, so you recorded it but one of the channels got messed up?
Well, you can always edit it, erase the wrong channel and double the good one, making a fake-stereo recording
  4. I thought Party Girl was the song in which Bono most fucked up the lyrics, but now I think that "award" (?) goes to Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me...
  5. Just to add a few random youtube vids...

  6. Vertigo sounded weird at the begginig, that fifth chords just don't sound right on an acoustic guitar, but got better later. I liked it. It has a Helsinki-2-NLOTH scent that I like. And the audience singing along during Desire is priceless
