2010-12-14 - Sydney
Tour: U2 360° Tour
Songs played: 25
Audio recordings: 0
  1. All I Want Is You <3 Finally... should be a warhorse IMO.

WOW Love Rescue Me sounds great Love those lyrics (Bahaha Dylan's influence makes it a great tune) Hope these songs are played more often! Beautiful stuff.
  2. I've always missed Edge's guitar part from the lovetown tour. He hasn't played it the same since

The better version (IMO), where the change has been made, starts at 2:50 here: (for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about). It goes until 3:47. Edge plays this whole section in a more simple way these days. Shame.

  3. Not a big fan of Love Rescue Me, but I love how they keep playing rare songs
  4. I can't believe how lucky I was to br at last notes show. All I want is you 1st time on this tour, and love rescue me 1st time after 20 years. Just amazing.
My pics and a video to follow.....
  5. AIWIY and Love Rescue Me absolutely killed last night, especially with the INXS snippets. It wasn't technically perfect, but I always think U2 are better when they're not striving for technical perfection and stick with the emotion. There was lots of that last night. I'm just thrilled to have seen it live.

  6. Umm, I'm pretty sure he wasn't taping anything - no recording device of any sort (unless he was wearing a wire)

I swear - it's like he mistook the concert for a 'living statue' competition.

Seriously, that was my first U2 concert and I'm definitely not the kind of person to sing and dance along - hell I don't even dance at parties/ clubs but you can't just stand there and not try and interact with the band - it just kills the mood

I like the album version but think it sounds better live - though not so much the 2010 version - I don't know how the performance yesterday compared to others - it certainly looked good, but the sound made it impossible to tell

Article in our local paper, the comments give some idea about what the public (and fans) thought.

People do seem to be saying that second night was better than first - don't know how the crowd compared. Wonder how it compared to the Melbourne concerts (the band do seem to be bigger Syd fans though - last time Edge forgot which city he was at)

How was the sound at the front of the stage in the inner circle - it was quite impossible to make any kind of judgements on performance quality without covering/plugging your ears where we were right on the walkway railing in the inner circle - i can't think being closer to the front would have better sound quality.

At times it was a little top heavy, a bit shrieky in the higher registers. They've been having balance problems all of this leg as far as I can tell. The bass was way too overpowering in (one of?) the Brisbane shows. My trousers were bouncing in time with it. But I'm going to miss the whole crazy show now that I've been to my last one for the leg, sound problems or not.

I saw a fair few North American shows & my friend has seen a bunch of last leg's European shows as well and we both agreed, this leg has killed them both. The guys are so much tighter, Bono's voice is stronger and the whole thing is working brilliantly.

Hmm, lots of complaints on the sound from that SMH comments section - they really should have adjusted for the stadium acoustics.

I seriously think taking a decent pair of foam earplugs in with us will help - to wear incase the inner sound quality as last night just pinching my ears closed with a finger had a night & day difference in sound quality (you could hear Bono's singing quite clearly and Edge's guitar line)

Upfront lets put in on the record, I love the band. Have all the albums and rareities and demos and been to every tour since 1989...

To sum up: Great show - ordinary sound.

Not the bands fault, but the audio engineers need to take a good hard look at themselves! The sound quality for Vertigo 2006 (at the same venue!) was great, this was unacceptable. For the most expensive stage rig and for the largest, most extravagant tour in rock history, how can a team of professional audio engineers and technicians serve up that?

It wasn't the venue (the reverb was fine), it wasn't the band - it was the mixing!

Maybe it was where I was standing (on the arena, off-centre a bit), but the EQ was all over the shop. No low-end, too much screeching high end and a muddy middle, and call me a fuddy-duddy, but even just a bit too loud. It was only in the quieter songs where the mix actually was ok.

The lads seemed a bit tired, Bono's delivery was at times lethargic and the band was quite loose in parts. Not their best effort, but then again they've set the bar so high for so long.

Set wise - an interesting mix. To finish with 'Moment of Surrender', simply didnt work and was an anti-climax. 'Streets', 'Vertigo', "Sarajevo', W.O.W.Y, 'Blinding Lights' and 'I Will Follow' the highlights for me.

My 8 other friends who I went with were buzzing after the gig - I felt left out, as I was the only one feeling let down. As well as being a big fan, I can also be a big critic. 6/10.

The guys seemed "tired"? Is he serious? Adam was bouncing all over the place like a mad man, Bono was throwing himself around as much as I've ever seen him (except when he was standing in front of us, fixing the 'laser-gaze' on us) and Edge was, as usual, on fire.

Was anyone else as amused as we were by Adam riding on the drum riser as it rotated? He was having a lot of fun.
  10. OMFG!

    Love Rescue Me

I'm really happy they played All I Want Is You, but they made this show a one to be remembered just because of that "almost forgotten song" from Rattle and Hum...

  11. Because he was singing at full voice to hit the notes, but the snippet's mood recquired to be sung quietly
