Not for the music. Are you going to start saying that it's one of the best bootlegs ever, now are you?

Not at all. The bootleg is perfectly poor. No Bassist still makes for a legendary gig. U2 play many gigs flawlessly but not all of them are legendary.

Yes it's amazing that they didn't cancel, but it's not a legendary gig, at least not for the music.

A concert is more than just the music. Most bands nail all of their songs. Most of my all time great U2 shows are technically flawed. It's how he band cope with those flaws that elevates that particular performance to new heights. Ala Sarajevo. . .
Some are just legendary for the music though. You are correct there and I would place Point Depot, Brussels 87, Milan 92 and Popmart Leeds amongst them. Most of the time though my attachment to a show stems from factors other than the music.

You just said that most of your favourite U2 shows no good?Your all-time favourite shows should be when the band performs their songs better than they usually do. Not because the audience was great but the band sucked, or because they were able to play in a war damaged city, or something like that.

Yea I do enjoy shows that aren't musically flawless. Rotterdam 3 on the Zooropa tour is a perfect example. The band are as hungover as hell, lyrics are forgotten and improvised and the overall mood and feel just make me smile. Legendary in my book.
If U2 were sloppy every night then once in a while nailed it then yea maybe I would lean towards preferring these flawless shows. But U2 are too well rehearsed so its the shows were they cock up a bit here and improvise a bit there that stand out for me. I don't use the word legendary much though. A loose and fun show always goes down better than a tight and well rehearsed one

I like a tight, well rehearsed show where they improvise.

Well rehearsed and improvised rarely feature together.

Not only for the music. An album is all abut the music. A compilation is all about the music. But a live performance is about the music PLUS a lot of other factors, like the passion, the audience's joy and the circumstances of the show. If you're not able to understand that... what a pity.
