1. Boy to October: 1 year
    October to War: 2 years
    War to Unforgettable: 1 year
    Unforgettable to Joshua: 3 years
    Joshua to Rattle: 1 year

    Rattle to Achtung: 3 years
    Achtung to Zooropa: 2 years
    Zooropa to Passengers: 2 years
    Passengers to Pop: 2 years

Pop to Leave Behind: 3 years
Leave Behind to Bomb: 4 years
Bomb to No Line: 5 years

If a new album will be released in late 2013, it will be a 4,5 year gap. Now look at those numbers. The gap isn't that big considering the three years of touring and the age of the band. Even a five year gap would be ordinary.
  2. It was a 4 and a half year gap between Bomb and No Line too.

I believe there will be a new U2 album out in late 2013. If not, very early 2014.

Anything later then we have the right to be extremely pissed off.
  3. No Line always! One of the few U2 songs in general I play to people who don't know them as well
  4. No Line (song) is still my favorite. Having it in U22 quality is also amazing.
  5. I'm praying for a new album by the end of 2013, but honestly though, ARE THEY EVEN WORKING ON AN ALBUM!? Bono's just speechifying and Larry's making a movie... this might be the first time they pass the 5 year gap between albums!?!?

I think we can be sure Edge plays his guitar at least five times a week.

City of Blinding Lights is a reincarnation of Scott Walker, which was made during the Pop sessions. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your One was played at Bob Hewson's funeral in 2001. So don't forget that the new material doesn't have to be new.
  7. I think it makes more sense to do the gaps in between the ends of tours to albums, because they obviously don't work on new albums when they're on the road, and if they do it still takes them a long time to finish them up for an album.

Popmart to ATYCLB = 2 years
Elevation tour to Bomb = 3 years
Vertigo tour to NLOTH = 3 years
360 tour to new album? We're still only 1 year after.
  8. Close one between No Line on the Horizon and Magnificent for me

this makes much more sense than counting album to album. Unfortunately it just proves that we still have at least two full years before we get another album D:
  10. Once can never prove anything - only disprove it.

    I hope that's the case.

(Sorry, Genaro. I seem to be picking on you in my last two posts.)

5 years between albums is ridiculous IMO.The band didnt tour for 3 full years.I understand what you are saying, but the tour started June 30,2009 in Europe, and ended what, mid August '09 after the Cardiff gig.24 gigs in 2 months in Europe..not exactly taxing...They had a few weeks off, then toured for maybe 6 weeks in the US...they played only 20 shows in America in 6 weeks...thats it for 2009

Bono had back surgery...so,the band did nothing for the first 8 months of 2010...then,they toured Europe for 7 or 8 weeks, playing only 22 gigs in 2 months....then played 10 shows in Australia/New Z Nov '10.Not exactly a gruelling tour schedule....thats a wrap for 2010

2011 was make up dates in the US for the 2010 shows that were cancelled. They played like 10 gigs in the first 6 months of the year in Africa and South America. They only played 22 gigs after June 1st 2011 and the tour ended July 30th 2011...and that is that...

So,what have they been doing for the last year and a half ?? They have had plenty of time to record....even when they were on "tour"...

You're right! All good xD Although I hope for a new album by this time next year, I just don't see it, I can imagine hearing the hype and promo's for a Spring 2014 though... with Adam in court, Bono speechifying and indulging in politics and Larry acting (which could be a year out of his life), I don't see new music from them any time soon. Time to enjoy From the Ground Up and the bonus tracks!
