  5. I need a little input from you guys, especially if u have road tripped before. My plan is;

    Leave Thursday at 6AM... Stop to eat etc... Around 11-12. Then finish the remaining drive to Detroit. Approx another 3-4 hrs. Show is same night.

    Next morning head further west to Moline, approx 6.5 hrs.

    Head home Saturday and Sunday. Approx 7 hrs each day with stopping, sight seeing etc.

    Any tips would be helpful. It's the first time I'm attempting something like this.
  6. I'll be honest with you, Nick, I saw your posts in the 10c forum (and the responses) and somewhat agree with the recommendations that you leave the following day.

    If possible, head out after work on the Wednesday and drive the first four or five hours west....stay at a (relatively inexpensive) hotel off the highway and then finish your drive in the a.m. on the Friday leaving you lots of time to "rest up" for the show.

    However, if I go, I'd be leaving the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) at 2pm or so with hopes of getting into Detroit at around 6pm which wouldn't leave me that much time to "chill out" before the show - but, of course, my drive beforehand would be less than half that of yours.

    Will you now-fiance/wife-by-then do some of the driving? If so, that'd help for the Thursday morning departure.

    She'll be doing some driving but ill do most. I guess its best to leave Wednesday. I just remember last year I worked a tough 10hr day, drove 2 hrs to Philly, lost my mind for 3 hrs while they played and then drove home. That's what making me wanna do it in one day. I feel like I'll be in Detroit by 4 which would give me a good amount of time to unwind.
  8. One way or another, I'm sure you'll muster up the energy to enjoy the Detroit show immensely - even if you have a 10-hour the day of the concert. All fatigue from the traffic will dissipate once the lights go down and the break into "Release" - the song they must open with if I am to attend.
  9. About the significant-other driving: We drove back from Chicago last summer (after a ten-day trip in the area, mind you) and my wife did zero hours behind the wheel.

    To be honest, I prefer it that way!

    I'll kill for the Pendulum-Release-Long Road opening, but that's just bring greedy. Getting Release in Bklyn was a highlight for me It's my favorite opener by far and all hope was gone when they opened with Pendulum. Remember , at that point the whole "opener" after Pendulum was not a regular thing by any means. So to hear those notes after Pendulum was.... Indescribable. Either way, especially if you're there I'm definitely hoping for Release.
