1. Back to listening to 2003 shows; Missoula MT and Vancouver BC yesterday and for the next couple of days. I still find it fascinating that the band didn't ensure/insist they play particular songs from Riot Act every night. Some nights they'd play 7 or 8 songs and some nights they's only play 3 or 4 - and no song was a guarantee. Contrast that with U2 who would play 8 to 10 songs from AB every night on the ZooTV tour or perfrom the "big 7" from NLOTH during the first legs of the 360 tour (almost) every night.

    Just an observation.
  2. and with Radiohead lately hehe
  3. nice guitarists together uhm

  4. So true! I was going to mention Radiohead in my post but I thought it would be too long! They would often play all ten of their songs from In Rainbows during their 2008/2009 shows. Unfortunately, they seem to be doing something similar with TKoL this time around.

As for PJ, only a few songs (e.g., The Fixer, Just Breathe, Got Some, and Unthought Known) seem to be near-guarentees from Backspacer and they were often the ONLY four songs played from that album from 2009-2011 - maybe playing one other from it.

As much as we all obviously love U2 here,we cant compare setlist changes to PJ or DMB....

In 1992,I saw U2 10 times on the Achtung Baby tour. They played the same set every single night. The only change, they would drop UV from the encore here and there.I loved the shows, but lets face it,I knew every song they were going to play from Zoo Station on.....

I saw DMB 3 nights at Randalls Island,09.16,17,18.11..not one repeat over the 3 nights..60 different tunes..thats impressive...

At my Patty's Day U2 Boston show,03.17.92,Edge actually played Van Dieman's Land...that was the big change out of my 10 gigs. Not complaining, just pointing it out.

U2 have always stuck to a set,and play 1 or 2 different tunes midset, usually, if they are in the same city, playing multiple nights.Thats it.Im sorry, but they must get bored playing 90% of the same show every single night.I think thats one of the reasons, why U2 dont release live gigs on their website..once you have the dvd (one show),you basically have the tour..hate to say that...but it's true.We cant say that about Pearl Jam.

I was pleasantly surprised at my 2 U2 gigs in Montreal 2011.....I actually heard 5 different tunes from N1...unfortunately,that has always been rare (except for Vertigo 2005)...But the norm for U2 is more like my 2 gigs at Giants Stadium 09.23/24 2009..I heard 3 different tunes from N1,but....once we got to song 12 (UF) the rest of the show (half the gig actually) was exactly the same.....song for song...thats kinda weak IMO...

In 2010 ,U2 played 2 nights at Horsens (08.15/16),they actually dropped UTEOTW and UF,and played UV.They dropped 2 tunes from N1,added 1 N2.....that would never happen with Pearl Jam,Bruce or Dave Matthews Band when playing multiple nights in the same city......
  6. 'Tis time for the mighty ban hammer.^
  7. Mike McCready (PJ lead guitarist) is on the left.
  8. I love that PJ varies their set so much. My comment was directed at the fact that they don't seem to concern themselves with promoting their latest album as much as other bands. Playing as few as three Riot Act songs at some shows in 2003 makes me think they didn't have a tonne of love for their new material.
  9. Your right Matt...They saw that Riot Act wasnt selling..and fans were holding up signs like "Play Leash you pussies "...lol
