    I agree..Ole is weak......but I do like most of Backspacer....
  2. I think Backspacer is a pretty solid album. It doesn't have anything on it that sounds forced. With "Avocado" I found they were trying to write a "mature" record but had too many slip ups. They, fortunately, succeeded with Backspacer.

    I think you should listen to No Code a few times before getting into the live versions of the songs if only for "contrast" purposes. It does have some classics on it (Sometimes, Hail Hail, In My Tree, Off He Goes, and Present Tense come to mind) that sound okay in the studio and then really come to life on the stage. There are many great versions of all/most of the songs from No Code out there, be it from the later remaster series shows (Berlin 1996 is a good bet) and also the songs scattered throughout the official bootleg series shows.

  6. I haven't read too many rock band books (just a few on The Beatles, and one each on U2, Led Zep, and Cobain) but this sound interesting. I may do some more research on it and maybe give it a try.
  7. You should pick up the PJ20 book....it really is an interesting read,its similar to the Beatles Anthology book,direct quotes from the band...
  8. I've seen it in stores. It'd be an interesting read - although I'd have to take constant teasng from my wife for reading. It'd be deserved, however, as I frequently make fun of all the crap she reads.

    After five days of no PJ (lots of U2 and Radiohead), I've cracked and started listening to Chicago, June 2003.

    Just finished a nice 5 mile jog...I'm on a bench in Battery Park listening to Achtung Baby .......Ultra Violet blasting....weather is fantastic here in NYC...goin up to 72 today.......made me think of last summer....Montreal N 2....I think all of Canada heard UV it was so loud....lol
