    If I was you,I would pick a tour..say Canada 2005..and just stay with it..download a gig....burn it to cd..delete from you comp,and just rip a couple of standout tunes...thats what I do...

I see your point but I think there are still some decent lyrics in "Save You" - and you (or at least I) can't deny that musically it rocks in the same ways Hail Hail, Brain of J, or Grievance does.

I am sure you are right - I listened to the Montreal gig the other day and poor Stone was having all sorts of equipment problems. Although, the Toronto gig as some very good performances.

I am just being a "partriot" - and reminding myself of what I missed so I never make that mistake again.

The second half of the 2011 tour suffered from what we discussed earlier - they brought back songs from Riot Act and Avocado (as well as too many cover, imho, but that's EV) when they should have brought back others.

    Examples:
Winnipeg: I bet the crowd was pretty quiet during Green Disease and Comatose (don't worry, I won't knock that they also played Inside Job - a favourite of yours Ed, no?). Why not get Blood and/or Leash in the set now?

Saskatoon: God's Dice didn't need to be played a second time on the tour (how about playing Breakerfall instead?)

Calgary: Big Wave? Nah. No Way? Yes way.

Edmonton: U again? 1/2 Full? (1/2 empty) Come Back? (stay away) I recall getting a bit antsy as they'd yet to play I Am Mine, Sometimes, and In Hiding. The "Wasted" duo was pretty solid but what about Tremor Christ?

Vancouver: One last chance to play every song from Ten...please play Oceans....please play Oceans...nope.They played Pilate, Unemployable, and Smile - three of my LEAST favourite PJ tunes. I won't mention my struggles with Mankind. Invalid url 'http://WWW makes' it's debut, which is ...okay but my least favourite single of the 2000's. And of course, wait for it Ed, Save You makes an appearance which I recall thinking "That's a good thing but still, where's Oceans!?!?"
  4. (i admittedly read all the last posts in a hurry and of course i'm kidding hehe but ..)
so you boys think they should do the upcoming tour playing "just" a fifty of songs .. the big three + a bunch of others .. no way .. they don't play cold hehe

  5. nice how they distracted people from what was on the main stage (actually stole them from there hehe) :7

Well....I guess we are...or at least I am - which may reduce my PJ fan status slightly. I still LOVE their 1990's music but, after a significant break, find it hard to put a lot of their "newer" material along side it.

I'm not saying they shouldn't play anything from the 2000's and I don't think PJ would be the band they are today if they just played "the hits" from wither of their two decades of reign. As a collector of PJ material (i.e., concerts), I appreciate the variety of stuff - I think I have every studio track at least once in a live format is awesome - but I think the sequence Ed was referring to in the Hamilton 2005 show was a bit "off course" - especially compared to what they started with.
  7. Thats true Matt...Im just saying, back in 2005 (and now)...most PJ fans would rather hear anything from their 5 1990s albums, than Save You.I understand PJ want to play more recent material, and not just the "old stuff"..but,lets face it,they are who they are..because of the 90s.

Thas why Im fine with Iam Mine or even LBC on that tour.Cant Keep is good as well, and You Are.But,those songs, just arent on the same level as the Big 3,or even No Code.

Instead of Save You in the Hamilton setlist,I was half kidding and saying no Even Flow ??? ,but Save You is in the set with U,1/2 Full,Insignificance and Sad ? Really ???...lol The rest of the gig I have no problem with, but I guess the band just wanted to sprinkle in some newer songs as well, that is their right of course....

No,not at all...I think each release should be represented...but at this point,I dont think they should play more than 2 songs each night off Backspacer..its old,and they are not promoting it now...play Unthought Known,or Amongst The Waves..and thats it...play World Wide Suicide off Avocado,Iam Mine off Riot Act,Nothing As It Seems off Binaural.

Anything more than that, the fans really dont want to hear....If they play Comatose >1/2 Full >Insignificance you will hear the groans....Im sure the Fixer (which I like) will be played alot..again.
  9. Here's a good question..why has Oceans..(a song I love)....only been performed live 15 times since 2000 ?
  10. simply cause they wanted so hehe

i pull myself out from being a PJ fan then hehe
i have my preferences of course but i love their fishing from the whole catalogue and not with the meaning of representing all the albums playing 1 or 2 songs .. considering the discography without the album separation .. don't know if i have explained myself
i love the fact that they can easily play Just a Girl instead of Once or Other Side instead of Nothing as it Seems for example
for me playing just one song of an album in a tour doesn't mean representing that album .. one night we can have 5 songs from Backspacer and 1 from Ten and the next the opposite
one of the things that i love always loved and that contibutes to make them so special is that they play what they feel to play and not what they're supposed to or people (fans included) want
  11. Calgary,AB 09.04.05

This set really is great. The beautiful (underplayed) Oceans opens. And sounds a little off.Ed misses the opening,he comes in late.Only a diehard would notice. It doesnt matter, because its Oceans, and it sounds spectacular once it gets going.

Then we have a run that is hard to top here.Last Exit,Corduroy,Whipping,Hail Hail,Do The Evolution,Given To Fly,Red Mosquito,Even Flow,MFC,Daughter and Alone.Talk about a 1990's romp.12 in a row to open ? That shut me up good in 2005,and as most of you know, that isnt easy.

Ed doesnt say much during this run,he just doesnt have to.Corduroy is a monster here,as is Whipping and Do The Evolution, with Ed screaming his head off.

Red Mosquito (another underplayed gem) is performed for the only time on this Canadian Tour. Its a bit off,Ed comes in while Mike is still riffing at the start, but it still sounds very good.

Daughter is really good here.Nice jam, with Ed chanting with the crowd.

Alone is played, the rare bside wasnt played for 10 years, until it was busted out a couple of times on the Vote For Change Tour 2004.Solid version and this ends the 90s run at 12 straight tunes.

Insignificance is ok,I would rather hear Of The Girl anyday over this, but that's me.

Not For You,then Black are very,VERY good,we belong together tag is in.Black has a great solo by Mike.He really goes off.

Save You (sorry Matt) kinda spoils the feel for me,and doesnt fit after Black,IMHO.Iam Mine or Nothing As It Seems maybe in that spot ?

The main set ends with a rockin version of RVM.

I too don't understand why Oceans get omitted so much. Same goes for Garden, and (to a lesser extent) Deep while Why Go get played so much. All are great songs that should get relatively equal play amongst eachother.

    You like the slower stuff.

If it's worth anything, I think Save You is a "first five" song. It's a rocker that'll get the crowd going. It doesn't belong after (or before for that matter) Black.
