1. On fri...2 hrs before Dave Matthews Band took to the stage, the opener of the 2012 Summer Tour, they emailed their fanclub memebers a new tune called Gaucho, its good, and produced by Steve Lillywhite...they also announced their new cd will be released in Sept

Steve Lillywhite is producing with DMB again,he produced their best music in the '90s...

I wish U2 would get together again with him..not Danger Mouse....I feel U2 rely too much on Eno..and basically do whatever he says...

I hate the fact PJ new disc wont be out til "sometime next yr"...same goes for U2...this 4 - 5 yrs between releases is weak.....what the hell happened to Ascent of......whatever it was called ?????

Its amazing when bands start out..they can release 5 studio albums in 7 yrs (u2)....from 1980-1987

    or 4 in 5 yrs like PJ did from '91 - '96

or DMB '94-'98...3 great albums....their best releases.....etc etc...
  2. I suppose they don't release material more frequently because they don't really have to. For example, U2 waited four and half years between HTDAAB and NLOTH and they ended up having the biggest tour of all time. Plus U2, like PJ, could keep their fans satiated by releasing remasters, movies, etc. without worring too much about releasing any new albums.

I suppose these bands just want to "get it right" but I hope they don't end up sacrificing heart/soul while trying to overthink things.
  3. I agree...Im glad DMB are back on the road for the year again..a full proper tour...last yr was the Caravan, they played only 12 gigs....I attended 3....Im thirsty for a true PJ tour, ala 2006....N.America and Europe......but I believe those days are over..
  4. At least PJ are touring - and it's pretty much a guarantee nowadays that they'll be playing 15 to 20 shows each year.

I have no idea when I (or any of us for that matter) will see a U2 show again.
  5. Danger Mouse would be even a less evil from the voices circulating hehe
agree with the statement "they don't have to" but it could also be "they don't have at all"
fact is that more wealth and less hunger sometimes (or better saying often) seem to carry lack of inspiration .. then increasing distractions dwell times
yes they want to get it right .. and for me overthinking necessarily takes some space off heart soul spontantaneity (No Line would have been much better)
it could be an understandable position but
for god sake they are PJ/U2 .. they can do whatever they want and impose their ideas, thoughts, style whatever .. without being affected by what the market would.
    like they got us used
  6. I picked up Binaural today Need to finish that album discography before my concert... July the 7th. I will get Lost Dogs too to complement my journey.
  7. come on hurry up Olof ... nah one month and half you have all the time for a full PJ immersion

Its very good Olof..but those same songs sound much better live IMO....I actually have a mix from the 2000 boots...Binaural Live 2000....
  9. Olof,

Just make sure you don't forget about "Long Road." It's not on any of the albums - you've probably/hopefully heard it open the Sept 11, 2011 concert in Toronto, however.
  10. The boss I think I know quite well. A majority of his records are in this house already And my Boss concerts are not until the 27th and 28th of July.

So my PJ studies have the highest priority. Hugely enjoying them too
  11. Can't wait to hear what you think of PJ's second decade.

I mean this in a good way (and I think I've stated something like it before) but it's so cool that you don't have the influence of popular radio to influence what songs you prefer. Two songs from Binaural got radio play back in 2000 (not too sure if you know which two or not) but because I heard them on the radio, I still rate them higher than most of the songs on the album. A very similar situation came with their next album, Riot Act. My two favourite songs are still the first two singles - admittedly/embarrassingly due to radio influence and the fact that I didn't listen to these two albums in their entirety until years after there release.

    In any case...enjoy!
  12. Listening to Edmonton 2005...pretty solid show - although the setlist is relatively short.
