Iam Mine is a classic......Thumbing My Way and Can't Keep are really good tunes...the rest I don't care for....actually,I think Riot Act was PJs worst release...by alot.

I'm a bit tired after a long (drawn out) day at work...this is my only excuse for failing to mention "Can't Keep." I love that song - it's supposed to be my favourite on the album!
  2. I actually really like Riot Act, Thumbing, Love Boat Captain, I Am Mine, All Or None and Can't Keep are really nice songs imo.
  3. ...and Backspacer.

I've listen to it (well, the shows "promoting" it) a little to much over the past year. That said, Just Breathe and The End are beautifully written/performed and Unthought Known is probably my favourite post-Yield song. I've heard The Fixer a bit too much (it's catchy, maybe too catchy), same goes for Amongst the Waves, and I never need to hear "Got Some" ever again.

As for the rest, they are okay (aside from Johnny Guitar - not a fan of it) but I've never gone out of my way to listen to any of them.

All or None works very well on the Benaroya Hall release.
  5. All or None is one of the best song of this millenium

    Here's my feedback :

Its nice to see some things dont change with the 10 C...even during a mock ticket draw I get denied....just amazing.13 year member and I'd say over 90% if the time, I cant get tickets....pretty sad.As I mentioned last week, they should try and get a clue as to how things are done from the Warehouse.
  7. i wasn't either .. i think nobody, aside of who won the prizes, was drawn; probably to let go the procedure of releasing the card of the amount that was hold .. just me guessing
  8. Good morning, Ron.

    Have you reviewed Hartford, yet?
  9. hot off the press ..

2006-05-13 New England Dodge Music Arena - Hartford, CT

Pearl Jam stop over Hartford this time and they return to move on stage on the notes of Severed Hand intro. I like the way it starts the concert.
To follow the other two that seem to form an inseparable block in which the parts rotate. As the concerts go by they’re growing in performance quality and intensity; well done here in Connecticut.

Eddie says they want to keep crowd warm, but jeez what the hell with Marker in the Sand??? A little bit pretentious I say. There has been quite a lot of talking about Marker, I am one who think that every single song should be played during a tour and I like it a lot in this way but .. we’re at concert #4 and making it a stable it’s way too much for me. If it must be I prefer it later in the set when a calm down could be useful.

Hail Hail to make temperature go to a proper level and it works with a quite heavy beat with crowd waiting to get involved with few quick handclapping after the bridge.
People need another hard punch now and Animal is definitely a good way to throw it; audience response is quite good when it should enter into the song. I have to admit i’m used to other kind of participation by the crowd. However the song is played well enough. Same speech for Dissident coming next.

At this point I think it’s not needed another let down moment. For me the same things I’ve said for Marker count for Unemployable too. I add to those that the songs should be alternate, or one or the other.

Up and down the first part and Corduroy is made to draw the line upside for sure. Like it happens next with Better Man with Eddie wanting a little break in singing and of course crowd take the ball for the first verses; nothing more than a decent sing along though. Loved the job by Boom behind final guitar solo.
Time for Matt to take the lead with the unmistakable beat that introduces Why Go in the middle of the main set and not closing it this time. Great Stoney in designing the rhythmic line. This one never miss to throw energy all around.

Garden next and it’s always a great releasing moment when it comes but like I said for the other appearance it had, this version lacks a bit of the usual biting.
Passing through I Got Shit, better in Toronto with the Cinnamon Girl “joke”, Even Flow and Mike spotlight come a little bit late tonight. Standard execution I’d say; again Toronto N2 was up to another level.
Mike spotlight goes on with one of his creation this time, Inside Job; once again loved the echoing job by Stone while I expect a little bit more by Mike instead here.

One of the best live moment by any band come … Black! .. and Matt Jeff Mike Stone and Eddie don’t fail at all .. not at the top but a very good one indeed .. great the suffering solo by Mike, eyes closed face to the sky I imagine, intense as it must be. We belong together hint to give conclusion.
I’m sorry to say but who miss almost completely is the audience; again probably I’m used too much well but I think the song, the moment deserve another kind of participation.
Time to close the main set; Why Go is already gone so Rearviewmirror to make the work. My impression is that the break comes at the right point .. this, for me, is dragging itself along with a bit of weariness.

A surprising, never played, I’m Open to … open the first encore; I love this kind of thing, not much the song itself, nice sweet song nothing more, but the way they surprise with such rarities during the tours. As said never played before and in fact Eddie doesn’t remember how to start it hehe.
After a dive into a “hidden” side of No Code, one of the best Binaural moment comes next; I love Sleight Of Hand and its atmosphere .. Jeff made a great job on this little jem.
Encore has to turn into a more rocking mood and Comatose and Evolution have surely their sense at it. The first is not a great song but it makes its dirty work in certain live moment; the second .. well it’s evolution baby!!! No need to say other!

Band come back onto stage with the same energy they left going on Go! Torrential guitar-bass-drums lines as usual .. performance quite explosive.
Stoney launches the more classical tune of a PJ show and encore … Alive .. solid version this one and solid Mikey too

A pretty pulled Rocking and Yellow Ledbetter to let down the curtain to a concert that has its solidity with the band in a quite good form. Nonetheless something is missing to elevates it from standard; in part because of the involment of the crowd .. a bit disappointed by the guys there in some key points.
Encores quite poor I’ve to say but I’m always willing for a double 5 hehe

Highlights: Black (head and shoulders above all) – Sleight Of Hand – Why Go

    Rating: 3 1/2
  10. Nice review, Ron. I apologize of I put any added pressure on you to get it done. Admittedly, I have four reviews in queue.
  11. no problem Matt at all i'm always late sigh .. i was already writing it
please wait for tomorrow at least for the next hehe .. kidding do as you wish of course
uh uh uh Chicago coming ...
  12. Nice review Ron....I was on the ledge with a 3 1/2 as well....but the main set was very very good..so I went with a 4,meaning a very good gig...5 meaning an epic show, for me at least....besides the 2 clunkers from off PJ in the main set,I enjoyed it....a Present Tense would have elevated this show.. ... I felt as if the main set was a 4....the encore an average 3 .....but still wasn't with a 4....maybe because of Black ?????
