1. Well I guess I am done with 1996 and 1998 as I already have the four shows (and only those four shows) that we have mentioned in the last four posts.

I'm sure these will do just fine.
  2. I went to kill some time today at Barnes and Noble, and I found both Yield and Riot Act for 5 bucks each. Can't wait to listen to them. I know they won't be as good as the earlier albums, but I couldn't pass up the price.
  3. You Are is my favorite off Riot Act; enjoy it
  4. Yield is right up there for me with PJ's first three albums (Faithfull is my personal favourite off that one, although GIven To Fly and Do The Evolution would be considered its big guns). I've been listening to Peal Jam since 1992 but only recently started listening to Riot Act in its entirity. I'd say there's not a bad song on that album. Save You, Bu$leaguer's chorus, and Can't Keep are my favourites these days.

    I agree.The thing is,I still to this day,dont really like the way Yeild sounds.Its a dead,almost demo-like sound.Not as bad as No Code,but still.

I would love to hear No Code and Yeild remixed.EV vocals ate too low on No Code,so is the whole band.

That is a great price. Both are solid releases.I think the songs off Yeild, like No Code, sound better live.Listen to Given to Fly studio, then listen to it live.PJ,for some reason, tried to get away from their sound, after jamming with Neil Young in 1995,things changed bigtime.

What happened to the loud slamming guitars, booming drums,EVs wild vocals ?.Maybe "Uncle Neil", during the Mirror Ball sessions, told them to cool things down.I Got Id is a bit restrained sounding,IMO.

I noticed this,LACK OF QUALITY SOUND, on Vitalogy, prior to the Mirror Ball sessions. The clean sound, was gone.A couple of the songs had a "demo-like" quality about them.Example being...Bugs....IMO that is PJs WTF moment.....
  7. Yeah, "Bugs" is pretty out there - in a bad way.

I've reached a point with PJ, like U2, where I prefer listening to almost all of their tunes live as opposed to the studio versions - and they have played virtually all their songs (b-sides included) in a live venue at some point and time. No "Acrobat" or "Drowning Man" in PJ's bootlegs.
  8. quite bust lately ... back right in time for the PJ return on the road .. tonite at Morumbi stadium Sao Paulo

very nice and interesting reading the posts i missed in these days

True.U2 have always been,IMO,very self concious about their live performances. That is why 90% of their setlists have always been the same. That is also a main reason for U2s lack of live releases.

PJ,along with Dave Matthews Band, are acts that are so confident in their live performances, they actually "wing it" with a song live.Example being many with PJ.At my Philly show,Oct 28,09,EV started Come Back, messed up and said "We will try it later...they can't kick us out"...lol..turned to Stone..and played the rare tune No Way...sayin "this is more tricky".

Later in the set EV walked up to Stone, then Mike and pointed at Matt."Let's do this one".GTF is played and played greatly.I think this was added, you can't tell on the boot, because GTF starts cd 2.IMO,it was played spur of the moment.Of course.this is one of my favorite live tunes.and I proceeded to freak out.

Later in the show.the band start Speed of Sound.EV messes up,stops the song and says " You don't see Bruce Springsteen making all these mistakes". Classic. What band would dare release all their gigs, warts and all ? This adds to the live element IMO.What a fantastic live band.
  10. I have a bunch of the bootlegs, but the one that stays on the ipod is "The Experiment". 3 nights in Mansfield (7/2, 7/3, 7/11/2003). All official soundboards (7/11 available in CD form, the other 2 were dl only). They played every song that they had played over the whole tour with no repeats (except Yell82 songs plus 11 covers.ow Leadbetter). The whole thing back to back in about 8 hours, 82 songs plus 11 covers. Whole lot of rarities and they sound awesome.

Wish U2 would do something like this...

U2 have never, and will never do that.Actually, the Mansfield shows were all available on cd,from pearljam.com only.Unlike the 2000 tour, the 2003 shows were only available from pj.com.I bought a ton of shows on cd from 2003.Check out Champaign IL 04.23.03, Nassau 04.30.03,Chicago 06.18.03,East Troy 06.21.03 and Camden 07.05.03.

Of course, the 2 MSG shows from 2003 are also standouts.

The 2005 and 2006 tours were only available in mp3 form.
