And I know U2 would never do this. But it would be close if they released every song on the u22 ballot in one set...

Yes,PJ did release, I think it was 6 shows maybe,at commercial music stores in 2003.But,IMO,those werent really the best gigs.Solid shows,no question. The MSG gigs were amazing. For some reason,I never really got into the Japan and Ausralian gigs from 2003.

There are so many great shows from 2003.To only release 6 commercially, you are leaving out some great gigs.Example being the Penn State gig from 2003.Commercial release.A solid gig,no question. But I believe the band played a much better show, in Buffalo, the day before,05.02.03.I forgot to list that one before. Its a 3cd set, like Penn. Its a mega marathon show, like Penn.30 tunes.Fantastic gig.I just feel, performance wise, its a better gig.Just my opinion of course.
  2. This past week,I listened to the second leg of the 2000 tour. Its been a while since I listened to all these gigs.Just bits of some shows, other shows in their entirety. The N.American shows, for some reason, have a little bit of a better sound to them.Meaning, you can hear the bass and guitars a bit better, than the European cd's.They are also a bit louder.I noticed this when I mixed the Milan show with Jones Beach N3.

6 shows from Leg 2, that I strongly recommend are :

08.03.00 - Virginia Beach. This is the first show after the tragedy in Denmark. The first song, is a very emotional Long Road. The band are subdued, and the set is filled with somber tunes.Off He Goes sounds perfect here.Incredible rendition of Daughter.Ed sounds like hes singing to himself, saying Its Ok over and over.My favorite version of this classic.A solid show, but this show, really isnt on the same level,as the next 5 that I list. But,IMO,I think every fan should listen to this emotional show.

08.12.00 Tampa - Loud, aggressive gig.Great version of Tremor Christ, and the only N.American appearance of Garden. One of my favorite renditions of this great song.

08.21.00 Columbus - This is,IMO,is one of the heaviest gigs of the entire tour.Breakerfall,Whipping,STBC,Hail Hail and Corduroy open this wild show.My favorite version of In My Tree follows.Dissident,GTF and a great version of Nothing as it Seems.

08.25.00 Jones Beach N3 - This show,no question,is one of the highlights of the entire tour.If you love No Code, this is the one for you.Plus,a stellar version of Black.

09.01.00 Philly (Camden NJ) - Another favorite of mine.Very tight, energetic show. The only appearance of Breath.Ed announces,"OK fuckers. Its not gonna be perfect, but we will give it a try." They appear to "wing' Breath. Its not perfect, but I love the balls of this band.Mike goes wild during this whole gig.Great renditions of Present Tense and Red Mosquito.Simply put,a must have show.

09.05.00 Pitt - This show opens with Even Flow, that told me right off, this is gonna be a barnstormer. It is.A very energetic gig. This show closes the 2nd leg of the tour.A funny part, is when EV mentions the woman with the white umbrella. He calls her onstage. She tells Eddie shes been to over 100 shows.EV is like OMG.LOL.Her name is Amy,and she requests Wash.Yes,the band play it.Its the only time, on this great tour, that Wash is played. Then, EV says,'What the fuck" and the band play I Got You.Stone says 'Nothing like a little improv" afterwards.I love it when they do this.Very fun show, and a great way to end the 2nd leg.

Jones Beach N3, is the only show that has the Ape-Man designation.I,respecfully disagree, with some of the shows the band picked on this leg.

  3. Would you be so kind to clarify what the six released shows from 2003 were?

  4. Yes,thats it.The band picked a show from each leg.Good, solid gigs. But I think if you download the shows I listed, some might agree there were much better shows than the first 3.The first 2 Mansfield gigs were amazing.07.02 and 07.03.03.The big July 11th gig is nothing short of brilliant.

I have a mad setlist that I can list tomorrow, from the 2000 North American Leg 2.......

And since every song played on that tour is on the Mansfield sets, and since they are all amazing quality and energy, I would say get those 3 and you have almost all the PJ you will ever need (OK, slight exageration...)
  6. Is that actually true that every song was played from the 2003 tour in Mansfield? I had gone through the list and noticed that a few tracks were missing. Glorified G and Last Exit come to mind...maybe I need to take a closer look.

I never checked. Eddie did say on the album that there were about 105 songs, and there is 102 tracks on the set (including a double of Yellow Leadbetter and a few Encore Breaks). I think it care out to about 94 different songs, so they may have cheated...

Still great to have 3 concerts with (almost) no repeats.

Now, if U2 would stop the U22 vote and just release everything to us...
  8. Agree with you on that last point. Many here disagree but I think they just might do it.
  9. I'm going to attend my first PJ concert ever tomorrow (friday night). Really can't wait for it!

  10. I have always wished U2 would do that. But,I hate to say, they havent. And unless they release some wild Live Anthology, they wont.I dont know why they are so tight, with their live releases. We had to wait 20 years for the Paris 1987 gig.And it isnt even the full show.I know they just left out the covers, but still. They always edit their live releases.Even Wide Awake in Europe was edited.Moment of Surrender was so over-edited,it sounded like a different take compared to the bootleg version. Why couldnt the band,on their website, release a bunch of shows,in mp3 form, from say Europe 2010,or the 2011 Tour ? .U2s mgr, is so interested in $$$$,Im shocked they havent done this.

I have loved U2 since 1983.And this band has frustrated me so much,as far as releasing live material. We are forced to have to listen to audience amature bootleg recordings.Yes,we get the 1 DVD from each tour by U2.Ok.Great.PJ on the other hand, spoil us.

What I have always respected about PJ is,they release each and every gig.Nothing is cleaned up.I love that. You really get the live feel from their bootlegs.
