1. Friday..July 19th......maybe,a "weekend in Chicago dear, for my 40th ?""..and it "just so happens PJ are there, right when we are !!!"

    LOL
  2. For me,the PJ "sound" was gone..No Code and Yeild could have been epic recordings..listen to GTF studio..then any version of it live...night and day difference.

I suppose I could put Yield on but...I don't listen to PJ studio albums anymore - just bootlegs. Same goes for all my other "favourite" bands...Oasis, Radiohead, U2, etc...only recently my Soundgarden CD's have been played since they haven't given us much in the way of high quality live recordings.

To be honest, I wouldn't have become as big as a fan of PJ as I have over the past two years if it weren't for their bootlegs. The studio albums range from great (Ten, Vs, Vitalogy) to meh (the last couple of albums) but it's the live performances of most of these songs that really make it for me.

I agree Matt, and the reason you love the live performances so much is bacause its got that great loud, banging sound to it..like Ten had..before the demo, mumbled sounds of No Code Yeild and Binaural.
  5. Hello!
I am looking for the official Pearl Jam Bootlegs from 2008-2011.
    PM please!
    Thanks for answers!
  6. www.pearljam.com

every boot is on sale there, for a very reasonable $9.99 each.
  7. I suppose it has to do with the whole 15th anniversay of Yield but there's a lot of discussion over at 10c about them releasing those 1998 shows. One member went as far as to write a letter to PJ asking them to release them!

    Here's hoping the band listens.

I read somewhere that Cobain was a hypocrite himself where deep down he wanted to make hits - just in his own way.

I think Nirvana released two, fantasitic, five-star albums. They are both classics and are/were definitely influential, both musically and commercially. I cannot knock them one bit. However, I appreciate your comments, Ed, about Cobain's inability to be a good father...hey, maybe it was THAT disappointment in himself that truly led to his demise.

I won't even get started on Courtney Love - at least as a human being - although some of Hole's music did rock - if only because it was heavily influenced by Cobain, and later Billy Corgan.

Kurt is one of the most controversial character on the scene for sure.
he never searched for a "hit" even though he put some little "pop" ingredients .. mostly the sound was rounded post production, both for Nevermind and In Utero, when he got sick of all the attempt od imposition after the conclusion of the recording. Butch Vig production and mix are much more rough than the final result. same thing for In Utero maybe even more .. and the live versions testisfy that.

...that truly led to his demise.
.. if things went in that official way for real ...

ok ok i stop there's another topic where discuss and talk about Kurt (and Nirvana of course) hehe
  9. after all the thoughts about live are better the studio album i was wondering which are the cases of the opposite .. i can't admittely find one .. talking about REAL rock band of course hehe

I tend to listen to the first 2 albums, and even Vitalogy alot..I almsot never listen to No Code,Yeild and Binaural. The live versions are are so much better.

Riot Act,PJ and Backspacer actually sound clean, loud and crisp to me...
