  1. I suppose that's why I didn't consider it initially. Believe it or not, I sort know my geography. Sort of.

    Right or wrong, when I think of "western" Europe, I probably think more about countries that might be considered "westernized," if that makes any sense whatsoever.

    I am English/Irish by decent (however, you gotta go WAY back) but I married a woman who's dad was born in Italy. We are very alike so I suppose I consider Italia part of the west. Am I digging myself into an even-deeper hole here?

    I noticed they played it in 2008 and 2000 in WPB...was hoping for a WPB gig this fall....

    Paramount Theatre 04.17.94...my wife won the tickets for this show.......the band were in their ticketmaster phase...no videos..no arenas...it wasnt good..this really backfired on the band and us fans....the band should have been playing in MSG from '93 on....

    09.29.96 Randalls..MSG 09.11.98 AND Milan 06.22.00 are my top 3.....

    I only asked because I noticed that it wasn't played in those original 12 gigs l listed.

    I've read they prefer to play "Oceans" when they are near the...ocean.

    With as many shows as you've seen for as long as you have and me only going on show #4, my chances are quite slim of seeing that one performed.

    Heck, I'm still waiting on "Go!"

    Well, we're going absolutely off topic now, but now we're at it... I know you have your facts right, it's just a matter of terms and which criteria you choose to differentiate the zones.

    If you go by social-cultural criteria, Italy does obviously belong to the same zone than Spain and Portugal (and possibly Greece, although the language becomes a heavier barrier here). Those 3 would be the Latin-Europe countries (Latin = cultural criteria, not geographical), and possibly the 3 your referred to.

    On the other hand, judging by purely geographical criteria, France is much close to be southwest Europe than Italy. Italy is directly behind Germany, Switzerland and Austria -which are the main part of what's considered "central Europe"-, so there's no way that Italy could be South-West. Just South Europe works. South-East for Greece by the way

  6. Oddly enough, I was going to use the word "latin" originally but I wasn't sure how (politically) correct that would be.

    In attempt to get back on topic, I find it humorous, yet also endearing, when Eddie Vedder tries to speak these "latin" languages at his/PJ's shows.

    Greece is definitely east.
  7. haha most foreigners are really funny when they try to speak Italian or Spanish (most of us are really funny or even ridiculous when speaking English too). Frech seems to be a little easier somehow (maybe it's been taught as 2nd language in many schools around the English-speaking world? Just speculating)...

    By the way, and ending with the offtopicness. I spent this last weekend in Benidorm, a very touristical city somewhere in the East coast of Spain. It's one of the cities (if not The one) with the most foreigners. Something like a 30-50% of its population (depending on the season) is composed of people from Denmark, England, Germany and such. Everything is written both in Spanish and English, and such. You get it. Alright, I was in a fully English-speaking hotel and the main receptionist and staff chief was from Glasgow - a true top bloke, very funny. When I was checking in, I asked him where did he think I was from, just judging from my accent and my look. The guy said "I would say you are... From somewhere in the French-speaking part of Canada, or something like that". I immediately thought of you, bien sûr

    Not bad...my U2 gigs would have been a lot more if they would have played the States in 1989 and 1993...I went 5 years twice between U2 shows..from the end of the JT tour in '87 to the opening of ZooTV in March '92....then again from then end of 1992 to May of '97...by then I wasnt even into U2 anymore..as Oasis PJ DMB Radiohead and Blur had my ear....

    My DMB shows are insane...don't ask..its a frightening #..lol.I have attended DMB shows since 1994....they tour Every Year....last year I saw them 9 times during the summer and winter tours..this year 7 times during the summer....a bit much I know..lol
