1. I've been looking back at the vids for this concert and Bono seems to have been on incredible form.
  2. Surely a lot of this depends on the type of music you're listening to. I've gone to gigs where people have sat and watched but it's because the music is much slower.

But let's get one thing straight - U2 are a rock band. I appreciate cultural differences but N. Americans stereotypically seem to be the only people unmoved by the nature of what they are seeing. It most definitely tarnishes it as a spectacle. You miss out on those great moments when a song finishes with the crowd still singing it on, be it 'Stay', ISHFWILF, MoS, Pride or whatever. My abiding memory from Croke 3 is seeing how touched Bono was by the crowd still singing on long after Stay had finished.

I mean imagine a concert where no one sang or danced or did anything. Ok I accept that a few people go a little overboard (that story of the guy with the flag in Camp Nou made me chuckle) but for the most part it's people going to an event to take part of it.

I don't see singing along to a song takes away from it either. This whole 'taking it in' doesn't make sense. Are you really not 'taking it in' as much because you're singing along to the songs??

This doesn't just go for music either. The MLS is famously quiet. I long to get to more English football matches where the crowd sing chants about the players/ opposition/ rivals, which has an effect on the players. British football chants tend to be very witty as well.
  3. it's a ROCK concert men .. and the audience has a great part of it.
i never saw or heard a band making the crowd be still and sit every rock band make their best to make people singing and moving.
people silent and still go to watch opera

and by the way i was at a couple of Floyd concerts and people sang moved and waved arms

ps: good analogy with a football match

We have all had this great debate many times over. But I will say this.I just wish some of you could have been to Madison Square Garden,04.01.1985.The band walked out,you couldnt hear the notes to 11 O'Clock.Same goes for the many, many other times Ive seen U2 live at MSG.We were all..."moved"..believe me.

Springsteen has said, over and over..NY/NJ have the most dedicated fans, period.I wonder if anyone in this forum has gone to a Bruce concert in America ?

Pearl Jam played 2 sold out gigs at MSG last May.You can download them,as all PJ shows.Listen to that audience.Listen to the audience from the 05.21.10 show. That was amazing.Yes,I was there.Tell me those fans are quiet, not into it.Eddie Vedder said that crowd of people, both nights, were the best ever for a PJ gig.Right up there with the MSG crowds from PJs great MSG shows in 2003.

Also, from watching the DVD of the English crowds when Bruce played Hyde Park in 2009,they were DEAD.I couldnt believe watching them, standing there..not singing..Watch the DVD......Then,when Blur took the stage, they got wild.Strange..maybe they(the English crowd) relate more to Park Life than Born in the USA ???

Like I have said over and over,I go to see and hear the band.I listen intently.I do not go to a concert to jump up and down like a human pogo stick.

Yes,I have seen many live shows in Europe.Oasis,Radiohead,Pearl Jam...

I have also said,I think the Italian crowds, not the South Americans, the ITALIAN crowds every tour, are the best at U2 concerts. And Pearl Jam seem to put on some of their best shows in Italy as well, releasing a DVD from Italian shows 2006.The crowds there are fantastic.Of course, this is just my opinion.
  6. OMG!!!! Just got home today from Denver!!! What an Amazing performance last night!! Bono's vocals were at the top and the energy from the band, wow.. Adam was smiling so much.
I had seats instead of GA and watching from afar the Claw is HUGE!! Dang it was intense. Last night was off the hook and the band seemed very excited to come back to the states. Bono said during the show, "you were two years younger when you bought these tickets".

As far as the setlist is concerned, the band was in such good shape it didn't matter what they played it was all AMAZING!!! Zooropa, Stay, All I Want and Pride were the highlights for me if I had to pick. Since we waited so long for this everything was Great. It didn't matter what they played they were Awesome!

For me this show is the best Ever and I can't wait for the bootleg to arrive!!
Soon I'll post pictures from the show on facebook. And I did meet Bono and Edge! They are so Cool and down to earth. Love them!! My dream came true!!

If it was up to me know what I'd be doing for a majority of the concert? Sitting down and taking everything in. I'm not going to shout songs at the top of my lungs, I paid to hear the band do that.

If the remaining members of Pink Floyd ever get back together and play some shows, for the love of Allah, please LikeASong, do not attend. You will be bored out of your mind by the crowd just sitting there.

    I agree 100% with your 1st line...THANK YOU.

I did catch Pink Floyd a few times. The Yankee Stadium shows in 1994 were wild. The Floyds music is so diff from straight rock, like U2.

But,I did see quite a few stoners rocking out to Astronomy Domine...from what I can remember..LOL
  8. oh shit bono looks sooo into it this show my god he no longer looks bored during Even Better Than the Real Thing.

and BATMAN, WOW WHAT A PERFORMANCE. I'm really proud of Denver at 5 :30 they went apeshit at the Jesus reference.

my opinion too hehehe .. being serious thank you, we do quite well down here
you'll be my welcome guest at the next show here
"Immagine in cornice" .. uhm .. what a suggestive scenario in the Arena in Verona .. in Milan Eddie said we're the best singers in the world .. what a pander hehe .. He loves Italy also cause he fell in love with his woman here
i can confirm that the PJ shows at MSG are simply awesome .. like In Seattle (Gorge amphitheater ) .. the 4 shows in Philly '09 and like a lot a lot of US Shows.
so it's less understandable for me what "sometimes" happens in U2 shows lately

  10. I want to inform all U2starters that I officially hate Roxanne Rios now.

    Respectfully,

    a jealous fan.

  11. I was there. Got to hear/see the private show through the tunnel.

Had GA spot on the rail for the Saturday show.

    Good times in Denver!
  12. It's OK Sergio, I still Love you!!

I'm still on Cloud 9 and thinking about the whole thing. The show was just Amazing!!!
