1. Reading the boards over my time on here i have seen soooo many members slagging the Vertigo Tour,i have to ask WHY? Ok i know some may say the "played it safe" with the album and maybe the band were lacking any kind of adventure as far as the music went but come on there were some fantastic shows from this era.
What about the revisiting of Boy (An Cat Dub,Electric Co,Ocean),getting Zoo Station again was another highlight,i used to love Larry and Bono doing Love And Peace, then there was the great South American gigs plus the memorable shows 5 nights at the Garden,Twickenham and those Japan/Hawaii gigs with Saints Are Coming/Window In The Skies.
From my experience the sound wasnt so great maybe during the stadium tour of '05 but that shouldnt distract from the rest of it.
  2. It's like everything. There are good things and bad things about the Vertigo Tour. It all depends on how each one balances them.

Personally, my first U2 concert happened in this tour and moreover on the day of my 15 birthday, so I have a strong, strong, strong soft spot for the Vertigo Tour. In addition, there were some absolutely stellar concerts (some 5th leggers, Dublin 3, Chicago 3rd leg, Portland, etc) and performances (Electric Co, Wild Horses, Vertigo is some shows, Elevation, etc).

BUT that doesn't keep me from seeing that the band (and mostly Bono) was pretty disappointing in some of the concerts, some songs (mostly the oldies like Pride, SBS or BulletTBS) sounded tired (and tiring), and there wasn't enough setlist variety -in the first two legs, at least- to keep up the interest.
  3. Bono and Larry's hair.

  4. Ha ha ha! Fantastic yet so true!
Bono's at the beginning of the tour was particularly shocking,it was starting to look a little Mick Miller!

  5. The vertigo tour in my opinion was stellar. Sure the band sounded tired at times, but not nearly as tired as they sounded on the Popmart tour, especially Bono. I'm a big fan of How To Dismantle, so I really loved the tour. I also love how they brought back early days songs during the tour, and later on the setlists were very varied, and as the tour came to a close the band sounded flawless. One of the shows Sergio forgot to mention (:P) is Saitama 3. In my opinion that's one of their best shows of all time.

EDIT: Re-read and saw that Sergio wrote "some 5th leggers" - good on ya!
  6. I blame the hair.
  7. I love Vertigo tour.
They played many new songs , different setlists , different order of the setlist , old songs , classics , B side , Closing with different songs .
  8. Yeah, 5th leg was stellar. All 3 Saitama shows have excellent recordings and are pretty darn good performances.
  9. The Vertigo Tour wasn't bad at all. I just think is it wasn't as good as ZooTV, Elevation, or 360.

At the show I attended, I found Bono a bit too "preachy" and, as I have stated a few times before, I feel that the "classics" like Streets, BTBS, SBS, etc. weren't nearly as well as they had been on other tours. These things being said, it had a lot going for it and still enjoy listening to various shows from time to time.

united that new songs came from the worst album .. "worst" Bono in singing
    Vertigo bis!!!
anyway they did better in the late tour (due to the Bono better version look? )
top thing about Vertigo tour is that it had the best last concert ever

  11. It was the tour that killed Streets. That is criminal. Flags intro, stupid 'boo ya' tribal chant and no flash. I missed not hearing the crowd roar after that first flash.
