1. With U2's very diverse collection of songs, there's been a few that you thought would never be done live. And when they are done live, it actually works! One that comes to mind for me is 'Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car'. When I first heard this, I never thought it would ever be done live. Then I saw the Zoo Tv Sydney show, and wow it actually sounded awesome? How about you guys?
  2. "Miss Sarajevo" comes to mind.

  3. Some might argue that it doesn't quite work live.

I like the song. And I know for some, it was a highlight of the show. But in the GA lines, I also heard others complain that it was a 'bathroom break' song and/or it made the set seem to drag.
  4. I have to absolutely agree with Daddy's Gonna Pay, it's really really mindblowing live. Years later, I still hold the "Daddy's gonna paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyeaahhh" moment (when Bono came out of the dressing rrom and appeared on the stage) as one of the finest moments in U2's live history - and I'm being 100% honest

Besides that, I think that Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World and Satellite Of Love are serious appliers for this topic's purpose.
  5. Absolutely Trying To Throw Your Arms Arounf the World, I thought that one would be really booooring live, but, it's awesome!
  6. One Tree Hill, the album version falls a tad flat in my opinion, but it just works wonders live.
  7. Numb : because the lyrics

Lemon: Because the music and Bono s voice

I thought that it was the highlight of the Vertigo Tour show I attended. It was overkill when they brought it back for 360.
  9. Zooropa in full <3 I NEVER thought I'd hear it and yet it was right in the smack dab in the middle of the setlist.

  10. THIS. Would never in a million years have thought they'd seriously include Zooropa.
  11. I think it's too bad that song a like Zooropa was played in a smaller venue. Great, great song but I think it would have gone off better than it did (at least at the show I attended) in an arena.
  12. Topic's title is:

"Songs You Thought Would Never Work Live"

    not

"Songs You Were Surprised They Actually Played"
