    great story though I wished any of my teachers would have been that cool back then.... they were all listening to German folk music and sure boring as hell

    I'm taking a music and gender class, basically about women in music and how they've been objectified in a lot of music and left out of music history, as well as gender differences in music in general (doesn't have to only be about women).

    I have an essay proposal due TOMORROW and I still don't have an idea. Any help?

    And I'm not doing Rap, it's been done to death!
  11. Well I doubt this'll help you that much because it's already "tomorrow", but on the off chance you see this...

    -You could talk about an artist's music creating a movement that allowed women to break through a little more. For example, Pete Seeger's folk music of the earlier half of the 20th century inspired people like Joan Baez to get out and perform, who in turn inspired countless women through social beliefs and activism.

    -Aretha Franklin's emergence and the birth of the "diva"-- that could be REALLY interesting as you carry it through history and talk about "divas" like Donna Summers and the Supremes, all the way through Madonna in the 80s, Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston in the 90s, and what diva means today (pop superstardom? or heart & soul singers like Adele?)
