Ashamed to say it but its true.

That is my favorite Green Day album, honestly.

American Idiot was the first song I ever heard by Green Day which led me to venture into their older stuff. A lot of it around that time was purely because your friends liked American Idiot. It was all influence.

I'd be glad if I were in your shoes.
  2. It used to really annoy me because I would listen to Superhits like, literally once or twice through every single day, for a full year before AI came out, so I thought I was a HUGE Green Day fan...when I'd never even heard a studio album all the way through. I was like, "Of course, I find this awesome 90s punk band and then all my friends ruin it for me cause they're weeping themselves to sleep over 'Wake Me Up When September Ends!!'"

It was an immature thing but that's how I felt about it. And then 21st Century Breakdown proceeded to blow chunks.
  3. No one has ever criticised me for becoming a Green Day fan during American Idiot but if someone did, I'd go nuts. I didn't do it for influence, I didn't do it because it was cool, I did it because American Idiot was awesome. It still is to me.

    21st Century Breakdown was disappointing.
  4. Yeah that's why I regret judging those people then. After all, if its my favorite Green Day album, why should I criticize someone simply for letting it welcome them into the world of their music?
  5. After all, I deserved just as much of the ridicule for picking up their greatest hits in like 2003 and having ignored them prior to that...
  6. I suppose, yeah.

I let someone borrow my American Idiot and they broke it. Lucky I've managed to keep it on my iTunes since then. I've been meaning to buy a new one for years. I'm probably too embarrassed to go into a shop and buy it and have the shop assistant to say "How the fuck don't you have this album yet?" I suppose this is probably the worst time to buy it as people will think I just became a fan of them through Uno, Dos & Tre.
  7. To feel like I'm taking part in this chat I'll just state my normal opinion of Green Day being pretty average.

    I'm playing guitar.

Haha, I do the exact same.

Can't have the person judging you as they scan your items.
  9. "What do you mean you are a fan of Katy Perry?"

"Ahem, that's not for me, it's for my girlfriend"
