1. Whenever I listen to Pop I always hear so much potential in the songs that are let down by rushed lyrics or a messy bridge or a rushed chorus. It's sad because to me it could have been another masterpiece album had they not run out of time writing it. However when I also consider the other factors that were against U2 at the time of Pop such as the world not really understanding their artistic direction and their low sales of tickets during the Popmart tour, it seems to me like the world just wasn't ready for it and neither were U2.

Maybe when U2 gets round to remastering the Pop album they'll finish it and give it the time and treatment it really needed one can only hope.

You can take me back to 1997 for 4 minutes and I'm not going to complain. It's catchy, to me, well produced, and I really love the mellow flow of the "Then will there be no time for sorrow" parts. Great song, in my opinion. Not the best one they've ever released, and not the best song on Pop, but I love it.

I LOVE this song. I always envision a video set at the playboy mansion in which Edge is floating on an air mattress in a pool effortlessly strumming his guitar while beautiful people party around him.

Also does anyone know anything about the version that was going to be released on the Hands That Built America single that never was?
  3. My updated list:

    Achtung Baby
    No Line On The Horizon
    Pop
    The Joshua Tree
All That You Can't Leave Behind
    Boy
    Zooropa
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
    October
    The Unforgettable Fire
    Rattle and Hum
    War

Awww, I could totally imagine that, too!
I really hope that one day the lads will make their statements (there have been, haven't there ?) true and rework some of their songs. This would be an amazing subscription gift
  4. Regarding the Pop remaster talk...I'm a little afraid of what they would do remastering that album now. 10 years have passed, and I think Bono is especially in a different place...I could see them dialing down the dark undertone of the album, which would kill what made Pop so good.

    Anyway -

My list (which I'm ranking to what I find myself actually listening to the most, instead of what I consider landmark masterpiece albums)

    1. Zooropa (I've probably listened to this album once a week since 1993!)
    2. Passengers (my iTunes count proves to me that I listen to this album A LOT)
    3. Boy (did anyone else have the cassette version of Boy that had the entire album on each side? That album looped in my car constantly all through high school)
    4. Achtung Baby
    5. The Joshua Tree
    6. Pop
    7. The Unforgettable Fire
    8. No Line on the Horizon (except I ALWAYS skip Crazy, Boots and Stand Up...I go Unknown Caller to Fez)
    9. ATYCLB
    10. Rattle and Hum
    11. War
    12. October
    13. HTDAAB (I have to say...the more I listen to this album the less I like it...at this point it's got cobwebs all over it...I almost forgot to include it)

  5. 1. Achtung Baby
    2. The Joshua Tree
    3. Zooropa
    4. No Line on the Horizon
    5. The Unforgettable Fire
    6. All That You Can't Leave Behind
    7. Boy
    8. Pop
    9. How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
    10. War
    11. Rattle and Hum
    12. October

Haven't done this in awhile, and I'm listening through NLOTH at the moment- so many of these songs have grown SO much on me it's incredible. Wouldn't have cracked my top 5 the day it came out.
  6. Why not.
In terms, chiefly, of how often I listen to them

    1. Achtung
    2. NLOTH
    3. Zooropa
    4. JT
    5. TUF
    6. Pop
    7. Boy
    8. HTDAAB
    9. R&H
    10. War
    11. ATYCLB
    12. October

If I were to do 'Best' then JT would go up to 2, Zooropa and NLOTH would swap places and all others would drop down one.

Only thing that really changes with my "best" list is Unforgettable Fire swapping places with No Line on the Horizon. Everything else, in my opinion, is right about where I listen to it.
