1. I really enjoyed Boots, but as a lead single - it didn't work. Breathe or NLOTH would have done far better.

As for Invisible - it sounds better on every listen.
  2. Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois need to stay away from the studio for the upcoming album. Yeah they've brought about U2's best work, but that was then, and this is now. Danger Mouse is a contemporary guy who hopefully pushed them and wasn't a yes man.
  3. If Danger Mouse was a heavy influence on a song like Invisible - definitely he needs to stay.

I love Eno and would rate at least his 70s ambient output as masterpieces - but there needs to be a new direction.

I have a feeling those synth-based sounds and the use of the drum machine were his influence. All those little production flourishes that are kind of hidden in the background of Invisible that make it feel futuristic I think are his touches.
  5. At first the prevalence of the drum machine (as opposed to the not overly-obvious use of DM and DP-ing) threw me and made me think 'yuck' but now it doesn't all that much.

Bring back some of the electronica and unusual synths like Pop; synths can become dated after a while (I play these things!!) but if you use them right they just work. Speaking of which I was listening to that record today and it still sounds great. Not dated, not over-produced.
  6. I find it rather funny that everyone seems to love Invisible (fans and no fans) while it isn't even the lead single. It's not even a single. Wonder what they will release as lead single for the album. It should be better than this, otherwise it's quite a fail.
  7. over 3 millions downloads, pretty relevant if you ask me.

Now they are selling it on iTunes, with all proceeds going to Red. Think ill have to delete the free version and buy it.
