1. Maybe one of the extra tracks in the deluxe edition, or perhaps one from SOE? This is exciting!

Anyway, what review did you read? Because the most respected (international) media seem to like it. Both De Telegraaf and Algemeen Dagblad here give it 4/5 too. Although there is some discussion about the iTunes thing. They expect 'disappointing' sales when the album officialy hits the charts in 4 weeks, because of the give-away.

Maybe. I really hope I'll change my mind. If even Gerard loves it...

I just googled "U2 Songs of Innocence" and the first I think 10 reviews were, erhm, not so good... Mostly Belgian radiostations and magazines (Humo, De Standaard, Studio Brussel) are totally butchering it. Dutch too right ? (De Volkskrant). NME called it 4/10.

Oh well, it's what you personally think of it that matters.
  3. Must have listened to it more then 10 times today.

Still think its a very strong album, with far more depth to it then the casual listeners (those that have to write a review against a deadline...) at first think it has. It really is 'a grower' and in my book that is a good sign. You need to listen to it multiple times to realize how good it is. Strong (STRONG!) songs and lyrics, really mature and coherent. I love the personal Dublin aspect of it and the cheeky references to other U2 eras.

It even made me "bump" the 'Rank the Albums' - topic....

Just read the Volkskrant one, but that one is just biased. De Volkskrant is a leftwing newspaper which shits on everything that cares about money, so they mainly butcher it because of the Apple link.

Oh and the Humo one is a copy of an English review I saw here.

Telegraaf: 4,5 out of 5. AD is positive (Don't give stars) NRC; 3 out of 5. NU: 3,5 out of 5.
  5. u218 singles is on number 5 top albums in holland on iTunes!
  6. boy, the bestof 80-90, october, TUF, TJT...all under the section of; whats hot!
they are getting some new fans here undeniable..

  7. THAT sound of that raw recording in the studio is what i hoped this album would be... If they recorded like that and didnt put all the over produced layers of synth, keys, strings, chorus, and other shit on it.... THATS what it would sound like. And thats what i want to hear.

I hope that really is another song coming and i hope it remains stripped like that.
