Hopefully like great businessmen that they are, they have a couple of albums in the freezer waiting to be released once the band has brake appart... like inheritance for their kids

I'm on the side that the release method was relatively successful.

People who hated U2 when it was released, they already hated U2 before that.
The downside was that it was uncomfortable to be a U2 fan when all the haters woke up at the same time to complain about it. It was like hitting a beehive... they got the honey but damn those bees were angry.

    I don't mind, I enjoyed the honey.
  2. Ideally it will come out before the end of the tour, that would make the most sense. They could then incorporate new songs into the setlist like they did with Zooropa. Part of it depends on when the tour resumes next year. If they don't start until May then there's time to finish it off. If rumors of them going to Australia/New Zealand at the start of the year are true then I doubt they'll have time. I'm predicting November 2016 or else spring 2017. Happy to be proven wrong.
  3. I remember a few days after the album was released for free, there was a huge event on campus where all the orgs have booths to draw people to their clubs and such. At this event, there was a guy who brought a giant mobile speaker and was blasting SOI on repeat while walking around promoting his club. I don't even remember what he was promoting, but that guy got huge props from me.
  4. More rock+ serious? Can it get more serious than SOI?!
  5. You beat me to it with the link! Sounds interesting!
  6. Okay, now, Dallas is more thrustworthy than Bono I think so... Interesting. We'll see what he means with more serious...
  7. When I think of "more rock" I think "more Volcano." But when I think "more serious" I think "less Volcano." So my conclusion is that the new album will sound more or less like Volcano.
  8. strange i have been given the impression that the next album would be more crystal ballroom flavor.now i hear a rock record.
  9. I think Dallas intentionally left his comments incredibly ambiguous. I mean, "more rock" could be interpreted many ways. More classic rock, more hard rock, more christian rock? The comment about it being more serious is also ambiguous. Will the songs sound more serious or will the lyrics be more serious? More questions than answers here...
  10. THE song that sounds both "serious" and "rock" to me is The Fly.
Do I want more of that ? Yes please.
