    so it has more meaning to me..

    heard it first on the radio, and then the dutch TV, that aired the olympics, put beautiful day under the highlights of the day... so i heard it every day that summer on tv...it was so great!!!!
  3. Beautiful Day might be better, but the two songs aren't that similar other than that they are the big big singles of the last two albums that have a predominantly crashing beat

    Beautiful Day is filled with the most gorgeous guitar work from Edge and to me sounds very innovative (especially in the studio). The notes Edge plays in the second verse just kill me, they are the most restrained melodies, simple and pure; and that's not to mention the main riff of the song which just totally brings it to the stratosphere. That song gets transcendent.

    Vertigo doesn't, but Vertigo isn't supposed to. It's a good, ballsy rock song with a killer riff that shreds everything in its path, it's almost a punk song, but a huge punk song. Vertigo certainly reaches for the stars but definitely stays planted on the ground, where it belongs

    was the first one for me too being mentally aware, such an exciting time to become a fan! that song was everywhere! the Grammy's were a great night too as my new favorite boys swept it!

  6. I think Elevation is to Vertigo as Beautiful Day is to City of BLiding LIghts so I can't really compare BD to Vertigo.

    so I guess i would compare Elevation to Vertigo and while the lyrics to Elevation are totally banal, I like it better, especially the "love, lift me up out of these blues..." part

    Beautiful Day vs. COBL... that's hard. For me, that depends on my mood. COBL is more rockin'.
