    Whoa...sounds fantastic. Keep us posted!
  2. So here's what this new album is so far......

    Psychedlic Pop....
This reminds me of the Beatles' Revolver. Note how that is one of their best selling albums. They also descibed the sound as "Molten Metal". Folks, "Molten Metal" is probably what was to describe the guitar usage. "Molten" was probably used because when I think of the word psychedilc I think of a lava lamp.
As for the metal bit, that's probably the roaring guitar we'll hear on some of the tracks.

    No Line On the Horizon....
So far the most powerful lyric I've deciphered from this is "I'll teach the world love". My only concern is "Is this another Beautiful Day/Miracle Drug?"

    Moment of Surrender....
The title is definitely interesting. No idea on what it may sound like (none of us here do anyway), but it could be peace, love, and war related.

    Mercy.....
It must have been reworked by now. Bono's vocals and some of the lyrics were crap, absolute shit. Then we got to hear Bono tear up "I am the Walrus" and "LSD" (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds), so there's no worry about his voice. Even everyone else with the band thinks so.

    2006 Beach Clips....
Could we see "I Believe", "Thank You", and "All My Life"? Maybe or maybe not, but they still look exciting. However that was in Eze two years ago. Perhaps these have been dropped or entirely reworked, especially by now.

Smile and Window In the Skies, not....
And we will not see "Smile" or "Window In the Skies" on the new album. This stuff has already been released, and is nowhere near the "innovative" sound we've heard in previous clips (such as No Line On the Horizon and the new Edge clips).

    October.....
The band and co. want the album out by late October, no later than that. Recently we've heard there's only days left on recording the vocals. So now all they have to do after that is mix down the album, and we will wait as they do. Hopefully nothing is stolen out of the studio or any leaks of the album happen well before it's due. We could get a single from it as early as late September. When I bought the Who's Wire and Glass EP, that was in July. That was well before the album was to be released, on October 31st. Let's hope there's an EP with this album, so we don't go crazy around here wondering what this album really sounds like.

I'm sure it isn't. From what that journalist heard and said about it, in my head I can hear something between Bullet The Blue Sky and The Fly...and dark atmosphere...

thats what we cant. Another Acrobat. I can't wait for a proper leak but on the other hand how amazing would it be to hear nothing until the day we buy the album?

    Amazing to the nth degree.

Maybe that's what they mean by innovation--no (good) sounds leaked at all until the album's release (as opposed to the last few releases).

There have been issues with singles and album leaks with U2 for ages. KGB in San Diego played "With Or Without You" a day or so early and that caused a fuss. There was the Achtung Baby tapes / Salome' leaks. There were POP leaks online. And lest we forget the missing EDGE copy of HTDAAB in France in 2004.

I would love for there to be NO. Leaks. I would love for the single to come out 2-3 weeks before that album. I would love for that single to have the A-side/single track and 2-3 STRONG B-SIde tracks. And then to not have any leaks of the album itself.

The cynical side thinks that some bands, maybe even U2, like the leaks to some extent as it lets them know what the general public thinks - often leaving them with a month or so before the release to alter tracks, remix tracks and better the album if the 'word on the street' isn't as favorable as they'd like.
  7. I really am all for not hearing a thing until I buy the physical CD and rush home with it or put it on in the car. It seems impossible though with bands streaming albums on websites (U2 streamed the whole Bomb album on U2.com at least a week before release), missing CD's, hacks, leaks and what not. I hope U2 can keep things under wraps, hit us with a great single and video with 2 good b-sides then straight in with the album and tour details. It's gonna be great.

I refuse to hear anything until it's released.

I don't want to spoil it for myself.

True...some tune in that Edge-clip made me think about BTBS.

You'd think they'd have something up their sleeves though. U2 have been more and more tech-savvy with each album. They'll have something planned involving the net with their launch. I agree, I want to walk into a shop and physically buy the CD over the counter without listening to snippets and exclusive sneak peaks flying at me. I hope that's not too hard to ask.

I'll join you on that. I'm gonna wait it out, (Painful as it may be)
