1. Not much to add above you guys. I liked it ok, it passed a long car journey reasonably well, but it never grabbed me.
Agree about the audience noise - I find people 'singing' along very distracting.

Do not like Mysterious Ways. The song has been ruined for me by the performance in Sydney on Zooropa. Nothing will ever top that and every performance thereafter falls a little flat.

I liked the spontaneous (? I assume?) extra encore despite it's rawness just for he added spice.

Overall - there is far better Elvation fare out there. Give it a list by all means, but it won't stay on your iPod.
  2. i think Gerrard is the only one who hasn't posted yet ?

    waiting for your review mate

thats correct. Before long. . .

I'll add a few short comments for now.

The sound was so nearly very good. Chris Voynet is an awesome taper and did the best job possible. I don't mind clappers or singing along but when you can pick out individual voices and clappers it gets annoying (start of Stay). Bono's vocals where extremely prominent but unfortunately crap. Larry had a good night.

and to add. . . The whole gig was as flat as a pancake with Bono's vocals playing the biggest part of this. It didn't sound wrecked (ala Sarajevo), his voice was just ugly. Obviously we know of the certain personal issues he was suffering at the time but this night sounded worse than most. His voice didn't compliment songs like Stay and Bad but actually sounded good during Streets I thought.

The recording was so so so nearly a cracker but this wasn't to be as a number of certain individuals knew every word to every song and sat very close to the taper. Individual claps and voices are heard throughout which is a big fat minus. Unfortunate but no-ones to blame. . the taper has to sit where he has to sit and some people like to sing along.

The extra encore was kinda cool but I thought it would have been better playing Out Of Control alone. I'd love to hear a set without Pride..

As a hilight I would pick the crowds performance during New Year's Day. They 'da de daad' the whole piano part before Bono took to the mic. Another great moment was Edge's first few notes of The Fly.

Overall, the gig was a very somber listening experience. Bono sounded as if he didn't want to be there and when thats the case, the rest of the performance hits the floor. I also don't think that the Elevation Tour suited the stadium sized venues (excluding Slane because it's unique). I don't know whether this is only because Elevation was almost exclusively outdoors but their seemed to be something missing in the atmosphere for this gig.

Sound quality will remain at 3.5/5 and I personally think the performance deserves no more than 5.5/10
  7. Let's say it wasn't their best. Next one...?
  8. Mr aussiemofo to choose. . .
  9. Ok, alright then. Recently we've been to Washington for a taste of ZooTV, then over to Portland for a dose of Elevation, from there we flew over to the City of Churches (Adelaide) for some LuuurrrrveTown, gatecrashed the Glasgow gig of The Unforgettable Fire, and then we stopped into Turin for another Elevation hit. Now let's get another injection of Vertigo!!!!!

This particular Vertigo gig holds a special place for me. We're going to Brisbane, Australia on the 7 November 2006. First show of the last leg....the beginning of the end you might say.

I waited 8 long years for U2 to tour Australia again and I loved every second of it. Not only was the show the Australian debut of Vertigo tracks but also ATYCLB tracks. It was the live debut of The Saints Are Coming (excluding NFL performance with Green Day) and the first time Kite closed a show.

Here's a picture I took during Sunday Blood Sunday.

  10. Interesting pick, I love Walk On
  11. Nice choice..never heard it before. If it is the same as the other last leg shows, we're in for a treat.
