  1. Hey, my friends and I are thinking of having an overseas holiday this year, and being obsessive U2 fans, we want to meet the boys. Of course, we want to go to Dublin to do the whole U2 house/studio watching thing, but I don't want to go all the way over there and not meet them. obviosuly they're in Morrocco at the moment, but I assume they will do the mixing or what not in Dublin (they can't stay in Fez forever, don't they have families...) and I was just hoping that any information that anybody had could be passed on to me. I never know if they all live in Dublin, or where they spend the most amount of their time 'cos they have houses in other places too. Also, info about cheap accommodation in Dublin and stuff like that would be much appreciated!

    Adam ,Dublin is great for a day or two but I'd advise you to head south or west also to see the country.Most beautifull places in the world.Cork,Kerry especially or Galway /Mayo/Sligo.I've added some info at the end of the post for you.

    Regarding seeing the band in Dublin.It all depends on whether they are away recording obviously but Dalkey is the best place to go .Larry is a regular in The Queens pub and INanother pub ,however its all down to luck whether or not he's there.The Killiney Castle Hotel in Killiney is 2 or 3 minutes walk down the hill from Bono's house and again he is a regular there.The studio area at the moment is a huge building site as the old studio has been demolished and a new U2 Tower is being constructed.

    Regarding Visiting Ireland
    I'd recommend the Cork, Killarney and Tralee

    Kinsale in Cork is a top spot but hope the rich American accent doesn't annoy you as you'll hear loads of them there .Seafood is a must as its considered the seafood capital of Europe

    Charlesfort is a very good trip and theres stunning views from the castle walls

    The Bulman pub is a cork heritage site (or should be anyways) as well as the spaniard...ideal for a mid morning / early afternoon pint while overlooking Bono's summer house which is right next door to Eric Claptons although whether or not they use them anymore I can't say

    If you then head from Kinsale towards Bantry and Castletownbere you will see some stunning scenery ,once at Castletown ,you can take a mountain road , very very narrow ,towards the Healy pass.

    Stunning views of the Killarney lakes , the Kerry coast and you can see Tralee in the distance . You'll also have Wild Mountain Goats coming up to your car begging for food .
    You'll also have some amazing views of Bear island

    Killarney is a short drive away where you have Muckross house or the great lakes and a stunning waterfall with a walkway up to a mountain lake or you can easily get on the road to Tralee.
    If you want to stay in Killarney , the best place I've stayed in is the Great Southern with amazing rooms ,stunning 7 course dinners and great Spa.You'll get cheaper hotels though on the Killarney Guide but if you want to treat yourself ,you'll not go wrong here

    The Danny man is a good spot , as is Murphys , but Killarney is a going out town and Buzzing

    As a Irishperson ,I personally found the experience of watching U2 abroad as something special ...Knowing that there wasn't many Irish people there and that they are my band and countrymen was a fabulous experience so I can understand what you guys are saying.
    It is special watching them in Ireland.The last 3 gigs in dublin were stunning ,especially the Monday gig (that version of 40 will stay with me till I die) as the crowd (or should I say Bono's people) have such interaction with them .Well worth the experience



  6. U2 should arrange a farewell-week in Dublin when they ever decide to quit. Let's say 6 concerts in 7 days, somewhere in August 'under a blood red sky'. Oh man, I'll be there every night!

  8. a week wouldn't be enough.they sold 245,000 tickets for 3 gigs in under 2 minutes !!!

    I was "lucky",got 2 for each nite , but I have friends that have been as far away as Austrailia at U2 gigs that got none.A weeks supply of tickets would be bought up by US ebay touts within 30 seconds and for sale at €1500 within 60

    With every week a different style, and after all these concerts they had done all their past styles! Would be difficult for their crew I think
