That's cool man. I wish I had friends that would buy me a really expensive guitar haha. I really want a 12 string Rick. That is one of my dream guitars. Why do they have to be so much though? It's ridiculous.

They are so expensive for a few reasons.

    1) Still American made. And wages here are more than the Squier made in Indonesia or Korea.

    2) As the economy is not great, they have a smaller staff and production is slower. Slower production puts a string on supply and demand = pricier.

I remember when Ric 6's were $1199.00 and 12's were $1299.00; for what seemed the longest time. All the sudden... Ric 6's are in the $1500.00-$1800.00 and 12's are running $1800.00-$2200.00

That said, my 2002 burgundy was purchased... 330VP (with vintage pickups like Edge's) in burgundyglo finish... WITH case... and shipping included... to my door for $950.00 !!! Quite the deal. And after I got it, my friends said - "Cool, we'll reimburse you as the fireglo was "nicked"." So I got a good deal and was reimbursed. Can't beat that.

Check www.pickofthericks.com (hint hint) Good deals on Rickenbacker, Gretsch and Vox can be found. (or at least used to be... hopefully still are... I've not went to the sight in a bit)

I know, but I wanna upgrade now! I want all of the stuff you guys have!

No worries... save your money, say your prayers and don't vote for McCain and you too (U2) can obtain a better quality guitar.

I respectfully disagree that Squiers are good for starters but, if it works for you in the short run... it's better than no guitar at all.

You can also upgrade the tuners and pickups and that will help... and be sure that it's professionally set up - action is not to high or too low (buzzing is bad). The fretwork on Squiers in notoriously bad so have them dress the frets too... a lil money into your Squier and it can sound and play better.

lol.... I'm a democrat (and too young to vote lol) I'm saving too $$$

What are you going to upgrade first? Amp or guitar? ( don't start getting effects and such until you get a good guitar and amp. Unless it's delay, which is crucial to playing U2)

I hate when they make you call for price. How much does a 12 string Rick usually go for on this site?

I bought mine 6 years ago... so it has changed. Just call. Can't hurt to find out.

I just sent an email asking about the price of one of the mapleglo's up there. I really want a fireglo, but I just want to know the price.

true that. But the newer one's are different than the older ones (edges) The older one's were more red and yellow and orange, as the new ones are more of a red to white sort of colour.
