Btw DSOTM is NOT the Sgt Peppers of the 70s, that title belongs to Whos Next

    BOLLOCKS!!

I think JT ties with Bruce Springsteen's Born in the USA. Even bigger is imo Michael Jackson's Thriller. That would be my Sgt. Pepper of the 80's. Or maybe Purple Rain?...

But is it 'relevance' or 'art' the question. Sgt Pepper is "Sgt Pepper" in that it was a huge artistic statement and a leap forard in The Beatles recording and writing skills.

In that, Achtung Baby should be in the running for Sgt Pepper of the 1990's.

Yup. Thriller probably tops Joshua Tree.....can't believe I just said that.

  4. (let's out a high pitched Michael squeel) Heeeeee-Heeeeee! (grabs crotch)
  5. No, I think The Joshua Tree is bigger than this, there's nothing like The Joshua Tree, this CD is just perfect.
  6. Who's Next kicks much ass. ( good tracks one after another. For the nineties I give Pearl Jam's Ten the title.
  7. Maybe the Joshua Tree has withstood the test of time more, just look at the new fans that buy the CD, recognise the songs and know that sound of U2's. Its also had a successful rerelease.
  8. Thriller better than The Joshua Tree? Not a chance. Sure, Thriller might be the best selling of all time, but however that doesn't warrant that it's the best of the 80s.

The Joshua Tree has 3 hit singles plus BTBS (a live staple as we all know). Meanwhile Thriller has 3 hit songs, but nothing else. The Joshua Tree has other songs that are perhaps just as good as the singles. I'm talking about the other 8 tracks. Say JT wasn't released with Still Haven't Found, Streets, and WOWY? Would the album be as good? Maybe, maybe not. I think that JT wouldve been an alright record for U2 if those three weren't on there.

Can that be said about Thriller?

    ...........

    thats what i thought.

Ask this to a Jackson fan and you will have a different answer...

  10. true, then again who would be a fan of someone who grabs themself as something to do onstage?

  11. Well, there are a lot of Jackson fans out there...luckily I'm not one of them. Each their own though..

Well if The Joshua Tree doesn't do it, then War should. The 'loud' version of the Who's "It's Hard"
