That's fine. I see where you're coming from. But the term 'guilt by association' comes to mind. Even if you don't agree with it, or fall into it, a stereotype exists in the world about what America has become. And some of the stereotype is true due to our ignorant and bullying government. Ask many non-Americans and they will assume that most Americans are The Ugly American of lore. And the fact that there are so many Ugly Americans on TV and in our government make it an embarassment, even if you don't belong in that group.
Like, if you go to a school that is filled with gang-bangers and drug dealers and partiers. You yourself may not be any of those things, but you may not be proud go to that school. You know what I mean?
