I also liked how the referred to the beach clips and the rivalry between successor bands such as the Killers and Coldplay, it makes them seem more relevant somewhat.

And I hope the Spanish leak is wrong, I don't want the album on Itunes two weeks before I can get my hands on the physical copy. As I will either have to make two purchases or maddeningly wait while everyone else discusses the album.

Buying and listening to an album is an experience in itself, going to the store, looking at the packaging, reading the dust jacket. Rather than simply clicking a few buttons on your PC, its disappointing that they should sanction a digital release earlier with 5 extra songs.

And can someone hurry up and post scans of the album?

I agree about the actual purchase of a CD - you get that sense of closure, finality etc., you think right, this is now actually mine and I can now go home and listen to it, and you get the sense that you've fulfilled your role in the relationship between artist and fan. Ok, for those who don't speak spanish...
I haven't got the time right now to translate the whole text, but here are the highlights:

1) U2miracle.com contacted Pedro Aznar (Chief coordinator of the Spanish Apple website), who confirmed that the band will be present on January 6th at the Moscone Center in San Francisco in the inaugural event of the MACWORLD.
2) The band will be there presenting the first single of the new album, the single is "GET YOUR BOOTS ON".
3) The single will be availiable on iTunes after the event.
4) the album will be on iTunes two weeks before the release date (March 2nd) and it will include 5 new songs that won't be released in the CD version, plus the music video for the single.
5) THE COMPLETE U2 will be also availiable, including the new album....


so that's about 9 freaking days for the new single!!!!

opens with the sound of birdsong recorded live in Fez. A middle-Eastern flavoured percussion loop drives this one.

6. No Line on The Horizon
Began life as a slow-paced Eno-esque ambient treatment, before being recently dramatically reworked in the Olympic sessions into an abrasive punk-rock tune akin to Vertigo.

7. Crazy Tonight
Upbeat pop track.

8. Every Breaking Wave
With Or Without You-style pulser that builds layers of guitars before...., ultimately, exploding into an ecstatic coda.

9. Breathe
Ranting verse over rolling tom-tom rhythm and Arabic cello gives way to a joyful chorus. Surely set to be a highlight of U2's upcoming shows. "Brian says it's our best ever song", Edge points out.

10. Winter
Echoes of Simon & Garfunkel in this poignant, acoustic string-laden ballad about a soldier in the snow of Afghanistan.

11. Cedars of Lebanon
Closer that finds Bono imagining himself as a weary, lovetorn war correspondent. Ends with the possibly telling line "Choose your enemies carefully cos they will define you"
