  1. Man, even if the next album IS in the same musical direction as the last two (although i have a feeling it won't be, maybe a bit similar, but in a new way) who cares. It's U2, we'll all love it anyway. I don't like HTDAAB too too much, but ATYCLB was great. And the vertigo tour was amazing. Think about it. The songs were hits live. Vertigo was great live, I actually like it now. When it first came out, the only reason I hated it was because I wasn't too much of a U2 fan yet, and it was literally being played on every radio station, 3 times a day, as well as Much Music or MTV 5 times a day. It was annoying. But now that all the critics are done bad mouthing it, and it's not being overplayed, I love the latest album. The new one I think will be on the same lines, but a breath of fresh air. Not too different, not too similar. We'd all love to see another change like JT to AB, but I doubt that will ever happen again. The band isn't in the same situation as it was in those days.
  2. Well, before everyone calls this out as bullshit, I have to say that the Beach Clips do bear this out. (yes, I know i'm banging on again)

    From them it indeed seems that the album will sound closer to HTDAAB/ATYCLB than it does to anything else. (This doesn't mean that is will sound the same though)

    But of course, if people would rather listen to spin, and end up disappointed when they get the album and find out for themselves. That's fine too!

    PS: with regards to the extra song discussion, is the list based on the songs Q listened to? (and hence could have not heard everything) or is it an official tracklisting.

    I guess I agree with you. I both like ATYCLB and HTDAAB, they're the reason why I started to listen to U2, but most of the people doesn't think they're awesome. So I thought, they can't allow to themselves something in a range of two previous records. But I could handle that, that sound, but with some differences. Anyhow, from the new album I expect to be stronger as an album, something conceptual would be fantastic.

    But as long as I know that Larry said that this is some of the best music they've ever done, I'm calm.

    Exactly, some people are expecting a new AB, that's not going to happen, no matter what the band/Eno might say. It's much more sensible to expect something along the lines of Bomb, but more innovative/interesting.

    It's much better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed when the album does come out.
