1. It's gonna have to be lol, there's not long left in this decade (although it would be possible for any band OTHER than U2 lol...)! But I think there's a slight flaw with your theory in that the previous 2 decades had at least 2 great albums each ('80s were full of albums, '90s not so much but still a certain regularity up until the aftermath of Pop), this decade hasn't served up one genuine classic (as I'm pretty sure many of us agree), so perhaps Gerard's pessimism is well-founded.
  2. No. Too much other great stuff around.
I think the last time I listened to some U2 stuff was in November or so (except a 3 seconds preview of the stuff I'm uploading). For some reason, this time I'm not excited/ nervous at all - I'll just listen to the album when it comes out and see where it gets me.
  3. Very, although I discovered The White Stripes this week (and playing it a lot) it will be U2 U2 U2 U2 U2 when I hear the new stuff.
  4. It is all systems go for me! I have been downloading boots like crazy, finally got the Brussels JT gig and goddamn, no exaggerations there! Bloody brilliant show, it really woke something up in me artistically, but that's off topic. But I've been listening to everything U2 24/7 pretty much since we started getting real news
  5. It´s weird how things work sometimes
I used to have period where I listened to them everyday, now I haven´t for prob a month or so
I guess im just cleaning my system , for the new stuff
Maybe its because if I listened to the great stuff, and then hear the album and it´s not as good as I would have liked it to be, it´ll be a major let down
I just wait and see when the album is out
  6. When “Viva La Vida” came out, I listened to it straight through about 12 times to get a sense for it. I’ll probably do the same thing with NLOTH, but much like Gerard and Yeah, I’m burnt out on U2 at the moment and all the hype that has been on these boards about which songs will make the cut, those freakin’ beach clips that I still refuse to listen to, and if a lyric is considered good or not. More than anything, I’m excited about them touring again and playing songs in a live atmosphere.

What about you guys? Anyone listening more or on another way to U2 these days?

Oh God Yes, its like your birthday Christmas and Great Sex combined!

With that said, i burnt myself out on U2 a while back but now comes new album revitalization.

Did the same with Viva La Vida and it actually killed the album for me, while I do like it. I go easy on NLOTH.
  9. I'm kinda in one consistent U2 mood since I became a fan almost 2 years ago. I listen to them a lot, whereas there're plenty of other awesome artists out there, too, of course.
What I wanna say: I'm still damn excited about listening to U2's songs, i'm not burned out with it (if you can say it like that) like I am with some of my other all time faves these weeks. It's not something usual or "boring" until now.

I'd very much like to see that playlist when you've finished with it.

  11. Don't hold your breath lol, it'll probably never come to anything but it would save me having to switch albums all the time

Might make a live selection and studio one if I get around to it
  12. Whats this underwhelming Van Diemens Land performance that Gerard was talking about?

I am both excited and annoyed at having to wait 4+ years for new material, my biggest concern atm is not the album, but the lead single, and I am keen to see how it is perceived by music listeners in general, let alone the fans.

But it already seems, without a doubt that this will be their best album of the 00s, so I cannot help but be excited.
