    Interesting theory, more plausible than what Ali's friend was suggesting. However the equal signs don't really symbolise/hint at a journey/ transition, unlike say if the horizon in the image got thinner and thinner until it ended in a vanishing point in the middle of the photo, (or something along those lines).
  2. I think we may conclude that this cover has much more thought than the plain band photos of HTDAAB and ATYCLB, I like the change.

    At least this cover has got multiple good and reasonable explanations, this cover really makes you think of stuff. The blocks cause confusion and make you think: 'why the hell are those blocks there?'. It's one of the very few U2 covers with a really deep meaning, along with Boy, War, TUF and Zooropa. But this one is certainly the deepest.

    Ok it's a bit off topic but the style of the photo suits the other two.

    So do I, I wish the cover was less austere though, it should have at least a hint of liveliness to it. I mean its not an album of ambient music is it?
    Especially seeing as we have songs like Stand Up Comedy,Crazy Tonight, and Get On Your Boots.

    Well, we don't know that for sure of course. Maybe it totally fits with the lyrics.


  8. Seriously? You think a 60's pop influenced song called "I'll Go Crazy, If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight" will have lyrics reflecting that cover?

    We may not know anything for sure, but that doesn't mean we have to defend a scenario with a 1% probablility either.

    Why not? No-one said in what way the person goes crazy. It could be a party song, but it could also be a song about someone who's truly going insane and gets totally lost.

    It could be, it's definitely possible, but its not very likely is it?

    And if it was a song about someone going insane, the cover still wouldn't suit it. I think you got a bit confused, I said the cover looked austere not dark.
