1. barring a few seconds of dead air at the end, the radio edit of Vertigo is identical to the album version

    More The Doors to me..

  3. Allright..So it's quite safe to say there won't be a non-single-edit on the album considering the posts here.
  4. Hmmm before or after the hip-hop thing.... Don't know but I'm afraid there will be no solo...

Nice one Stu, almost completely agree. It's a great song but a solo could have made it some better.

doubtful considering it's an already short track. What we've heard is likely to be identical to whats on the album (unless they change it before the album goes to press)

  6. That's kinda what I like about it - it disbands with the traditional structure of songs nowadays, I mean in that sense it's very un-U2ish because it's not like the typical setup of AABABCB with regard to song format that most popular music uses; it's the unusual-ness which really grabs me. I don't deny that I really like it, but that's not to say that I t think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread BUT it's definitely a step in a new direction in terms of song-writing if nothing else. It may seem like a fairly minor thing, but when you think about most music these days, there's a formula which seems to be universally accepted as how to go about writing music, and this example suggests that maybe U2 are tearing up the copybook, or whatever the phrase is.

EDIT - quick thing, was GOYB the track that Bono said was 150 bpm or whatever? i.e. the fastest thing they've ever recorded? 'Cause it certainly feels that way in so far as there seems to be a hell of a lot going on in 3 minutes of music lol.

I get ya but (. . .the inevitable but), it doesn't just do away with the traditional structure, it does away with any structure really. There's 2 possible choruses, the bridge, the riff over and over, the whole 'let me in the sound' (which goes on for too long. There's just way too much going on for a song of it's length.

I feel that whatever the live arrangement may be should have been whats on the record

Yeah I get you too, it's gonna be interesting to see what they do in a live arena BUT on the same note, you'd like to think they've considered that eventuality lol. I don't think there's necessarily too much going on, there's just A LOT going on - it's like going on a rollercoaster and trying to point out different buildings all over the theme park whilst being flung through the air at some ungodly speed. Not impossible, but a task not to be undertaken lightly lol.
  9. guys, wait until the 'let me in the sound' part is played live. I'm sure it will be frigging awesome and maybe the best part of the song (live)

On the other hand it could be complete and utter dross lol, but only time can tell
