    Can be put in the same category as Vertigo, lyrically. Not really a well written song. Thoughts?
  2. I have no idea what it's about. I hear the conflict orientated lyrics then theres the whole 'beautiful yadda yadda'
  3. GOYB is all about the sound, not the sound and lyrics. Lyrics are a bit of a no-brainer like Elevation and Vertigo but that's OK with me. It's sounds great.
  4. I can't make much sense of the lyrics so far either, but of what I got so far.. I think this is about someone who closes his eyes about war and how bad things actually are. he only wants to look at the bright side, doesn't want to talk about how things get blown up etc.

    well, I could be wrong am still thinking about it and every time I read the lyrics anew I see something else in them (or a line that doesn't fit to what I thought it would be about).

    carnival sounds good to me. makes sense. while outside of the party, there's war and the ones at the carnival are in denial? hmm.

    Could be, just like Staring At The Sun. He doesn't want to talk about wars between nations, but on his boots to the carnival and have some fun.

    The reason why this song is chosen as first single is because Bono says goodbye to the Elevation and Vertigo-Bono. 'Get on your boots, sexy boots'. Remember ZooTV? 'I know you like your popstars to be famous so I bought these *shows BOOTS*'. Bono wants to get in another character (see Q Magazine). The boots are his way to become someone else. As in ZooTV. Why sexy boots? He doesn't want the ugly ones, he wants to become a sexy man with sexy music!

    'I don't wanna talk about wars between nations'. What was the most annoying thing of Elevation and especially Vertigo-Bono? His long and sometimes boring speeches about politics. He tells us he wants to get back to ZooTV when he wasn't that active yet. He doesn't wanna talk about politics! See Q Music: Bono: 'I'm sick of Bono'. Bono is sick of his own activism.

    We have to give Bono credit for the huge work he has done in terms of getting aid for the third world though. But keep that off the stage! lol
  10. Those lines as 'I Don't wanna talk about wars between nations' are easy to declare... but it's strange lyric. As mentioned before: sounds like there is a TV on or something and there is a party going on anywhere....

    I think you're definitely onto something here. I also think of "get on your boots" could also have the meaning "get off your arse and get to work", like we all have to participate in the "change we can believe in." We have to make the change happen. I also read somewhere that Bono is referring to women and their power and strength.
