1. Yeah, I was using some alternative fonts for t-shirt design for Croatian u2 community and two examples are this:

  2. Lovely, like that font even more than the original.
  3. Dunno if u heard or read this

Irish rock giants U2 have been accused of plagiarism after it emerged that the group aren't the first to use Hiroshi Sugimoto's painting 'Boden Sea' as an album cover.

The band have kept fans waiting almost four years for a new album. Forthcoming record 'No Line On The Horizon' is U2's first since 2005 and comes amid a barrage of hype with Bono claiming to have re-invented rock and roll.

U2 are streaming their new single 'Get On Your Boots' from their website, and will perform it live at the prestigious Brit Award ceremony.

However, concerns have been raised by ambient duo Richard Chartier and Taylor Deupree who also used the painting on the cover of their 2006 album 'Specification'. A collection of ambient electronic pieces, it is almost as far away from the bombast of U2 as it is possible to go.

However, any accusations of plagiarism are unwarranted - it seems that the two parties merely have similar taste in paintings. Furthermore, the cover of Brothomstates' 2001 Warp album Caro uses the painting as well.

U2 release new album 'No Line On The Horizon' on March 2nd.

  4. I heard it already three times lol

But I think it's nonsense. It can't be plagiarism when it's someone else's work. That Japanese (?) artist made it, not those people who also used it as cover.

While I agree, it kind of destroys it a bit knowing its already been put out by another artist, even if U2´s cover is bit different with the dots on it
It could been more fantasy/creative to use somethin else
But perhaps U2 didnt know its been used on another album, one article here suggested that artist is rather "small" maybe as in not very known
I haven´t heard of him until now at least lol
  6. after listening to the U2.com session vids i recorded a clip of what i hope makes it on the new album..The u2.com vid was labeled Dallas and had Dallas walking around writing settings down as Edge Danny and Eno were playing this awesome etheral ebow type thing. I gave it a go here. I didnt know what to have on the vid portion so i just recorded some of my Edge gear

Hey Mick...that sounds real nice, wondering which song it might be, and I hope they kept it on the album, tho it does remind of some music used on Japanese cartoons...but it's nice...would like to hear Bono on it.
BTW, this is "cover" as in artwork thread, not covering the songs

  8. sounds like he changed his mind; which makes sense...I hiiiiighly doubt there was any malicious intent involved with U2.....artists will be drawn to art, so it's not surprise that U2 are not the first band to utilize one of Sugimoto's photos
