Yep, he had the chance to listen to it twice. And his reviews are usually spot on. He takes off the Fan-Glasses before writing.
    Overall rating: 8-9/10.
    Minus: Too many ooh ooohs.

Another reviewer from a german mag calls it "the most exiting U2 work in the last 10 years".
She hears Portishead-like sounds in "Moment Of Surrender" and "Fez" Chili Peppers elements in "Stand Up Comedy" and the Stones in "Breathe".
Minus: Bono's voice gets drowned in the "Wall of Sound".

Her summary: The fan is excited - the non-fan is pleasantly surprised that one can listen to U2 in 2009 without getting aggressive.

Good to know, thanks again. It seems NLOTH is going to break some U2-boundaries once again.

  2. They could simply bring Terry Lawless back on stage for the Keyboards.

  3. True, and also Coldplay manages to bring their songs live...but they also had this backing-recording playing with them I once heard. Ah, we'll see anyway.
  4. Best part of the review.

Thanks a lot for the rest, by the way
  5. Bjorn also believes Magnificient, Stand Up, No Line and White As Snow are top tracks, but it's too early for him (and he needs more listens) to get confident about that.

He indeed thinks GOYB is the 'worst' track from the album but it fits perfectly in the album, on place 6.

Some guy asked him what his reactions were after the Vertigo Session in 2004 and if he was also positive back then. Bjorn said he wasn't, while he is now. He liked Vertigo and LAPOE, but the rest was so-so.

  6. if they can pull of Mofo live then we have no worry about that
  7. THIS.
    IS.
    BRILLIANT.

  8. Sounds like some good stuff (and Eno got his bird sounds in Unknown Caller). Fez with a full minute of electronic sounds is gonna be an interesting listen.

This Bjorn fellow seems to not be pulled in by hype. Good to hear there's reviewers like him who are real fans.

That's an understatement. Surely. And it is possible to do Mofo. They did it for almost two years.

wondering seriously now if the "mystery tour" video music will end up somehow. I would love that .....that review really got me excited!

I didn't say they didn't do Mofo....the fact they did was exactly my point

I am not sure if this has been confirmed on the discussion as yet, but I just had a look at the AU tracklisting at JBHifi online and yes confirming NLOTH alternate version is track no. 12 on the new album
