  4. Personally I voted 3 stars for the new album.
    90% that this rating will change for the better with the start of the tour, but right now, I am sorry but this is all I can give to U2.
    Most of the songs here... sound *unfinished*. They certainly implement many nice ideas, but it's just...for me, something spoils these new songs.
    For example, Moment of Surrender: very nice chorus, good lyrics, good atmosphere. But why make it so static? You wait 1 min to get into the song, and then throughout the whole song it's just absolutely one and the same rhythm, one and the same singing. Why not make the verses more dynamic? The song just doesnt change, it's like throughout on one and the same *still* wave.
    Also why does Bono go for such a high key in vocals? Even in his better singing days (JT and AB) most of the songs were sung in *normal* key for his voice. I find that in most songs of NLOTH he triest to sing as high as possible, often trying to cry. Why not lower the key and instead put some emotion into voice?
    Maginificent is the same as MoS: good song, definetly. But it does not change, it's absolutely one and the same from beginning to the end. The lyrics are bad. This song just doesnt evoke anything in me.
    Stand Up Comedy is a cool song but again has a bad ending. Hope this will be fixed live.
    Being Born is experimental... but tell me really, is it really anything more than *experimental*?

    Seriously Bono is not God ,he doesnt walk on water , niether does the band.Seriously some people would say it was the greatest if U2 if he sang about edited by crew.You just don't get it !
    This is a terrible piece of work , nothing short of a dud. Yeah you and the other 7 million followers of Bono will buy as part of devotion, when are fans going to break out and say this is shit.
    And if i get attacked for my views well at least im not un original !!!!!!
    Please look at the album from a OBJECTIVE view point, this is the the thead to talk about your disapointment , well i am .Totally crap , AND DONT THINK im not the only one who thinks that , it's not being receieved very well by many.U2 have to be down a couple of mill, becase to give it 5 stars thats a lot of money to give to Rolling Stone.Coldplay's album shits on this at least thats got feel , like i wanna listen to a guy talking to a phone >????
    And believe ehat you may but i have loved u2 FOR 20 YEARS , BUT THEY HAVE TOTALLY TOTALLY fucked up this time.
    Berlin was a disaster because no coherence, no real go by BONO and actually he sounded terrible, all over the place.Oh sorry i can't say anything bout he messiah can i ?????
    Thier ar many more fans who they have lost im begining o be one , and i never thought i would be .Beyond no dobt thee worst album of 09




  6. Alot of the songs sounded too atmospheric and quiet for me.
    I guess U2 just like the slower tunes nowadays...
  7. i've been waiting ten years for another great album....
    i really hoped this could have been the right time but, sorry, NLOTH is just like the last two album: mainstream, overproduced, boring and tired; why the hell before every song there is an useless intro of a minute!!
    however "Fez" is a great song

    I thought it was just slower and more melodic. Breathe has a nice intro/background.

    MOS and Unknown Caller only (I'm excluding Fez as you said it's a great song). And with them it's all part of the atmosphere.

    Each to their own though.

    It's unfortunate that your not feeling this record like most of the gang are, we all have different opinions, it's like most having different favourite tracks off the album, what i may like..someone else rates as their least fave etc, and that to me, is a good sign of a strong album with not one or 2 real stand out songs.

    For instance, i'm not too sure if many would rate say One Step Closer or perhaps A Man Or A Woman as their fave on the last album, with this one, all tracks have been mentioned as favourites from different people.

    Unfortunatly though your not having the same or similar feelings to most of us who think this album rocks, and could very well sit right up there with the best U2 albums.
