1. Saw it yesterday. Awful. But I think one reason that it got airplay too soon or the physical release too late.

Yeah, I dont know why they did it. The single was 'out' but you couldnt buy it anywhere (except iTunes). Single came in pretty high (16th place i think) and after that it was fighting its own battle without any support of single sales.

iTunes is not really big in Holland and I dont even know if it is used to create the biggest charts

It was on No 1 one day on Itunes if I remember it right. After that I was Coldplay again or so.
  4. Found a photo of the GOYB - covershoot. Found it on the site of the photographer, Deirdre O'Callaghan.

  5. This days performance at Jo Whiley's show was the best to date...spot on, great job.
  6. Boots dropped to place 36 here in the Dutch charts...within 4 weeks

  7. Rooftop was slightly better imo. But now it's a killer.
  8. who cares about charts? I know I do not.

  9. its just nice for the band to get regonitiion, and being in top gets people listening who wouldnt normally. breathe magnificeint and crazy will all be in the charts for a while
  10. Down from 12 to 20 in the UK chart this week. Frankly I feel embarrassed for them. I have said some scathing things on here about GOYB and the NLOTH album, but for all that I have at least gone out and bought the single and the album on their day of release, so I'm doing my bit to support them. The album is really growing on me now, but I have to say GOYB was the very worst song they could have released as a lead single. Watching them play it in the studio on "The Culture Show", well, they just looked like they weren't really enjoying it. Please please please can we have Magnificent as the next single - it's sending shivers down my spine!

IMO GOYB is the only song that would work as lead-off single, maybe next to Breathe.
GOYB sounds like nothing they've ever done before, which is the description of NLOTH.
Magnificent wouldn't be 'different' enough to be a good lead-off single
  12. Come on, people must be honest, GOYB is the worst song on the album. the music and guitars are good but the lyrics are so poor, the chorus is not original at all. I really don't like it at all and im sure lots of people agree with me. They only made this song to get some pop fans have a look at it and maybe to get in the charts. U2 don't need to have pop songs to get in the charts anymore. They are the world's biggest band and have sold 150 million albums. They don't need a pop song first to get noticed. I love all of the other songs on the album but Boots is just blahhhh!

However, the new album is really really good. Very original and talented work
